Over at the Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog - the guru himself has posted a quick little hack that will help you place your addons and downloads into the Firefox sidebar. If you are not a big fan of the pop up windows they come to you in now, this might just be the solution you are looking for.
The best thing about this is you don’t need to download another extension to get it done. You just have to do some changing around in your bookmarks.
