Fill in Web Forms Quicker

InFormEnter

The other day, my sister said that the only reason she was using the Yahoo! toolbar with Firefox was for the auto-fill function that my brother-in-law liked.

At the time I did not know of a separate extension that would do the same thing. Well, I am happy to say after a little searching - I have found one.

The InFormEnter extension promises to save all of your important information so you can enter it into Web forms as you need or desire to.

InFormEnter adds a small, clickable icon next to every input field in a web form, from where you can select the item to be inserted - no typing required. You can configure it to display your frequently used information such as name, email, address and whatever else you want to be available from the form menu.

I might have to add this to the short list of extensions I use on a daily basis. It makes it really handy when you have a lot of Web forms to fill out.

Sxip Identity also provides a Firefox extension, Sxipper, to help manage Internet identities and pre-fill web forms. It supports OpenID and has a community of “mappers” that map a form’s fields to identity properties for the benefit of the next Sxipper user to load the form. It’s currently in beta at sxipper.com

Hey Brent, thanks for the suggestion. I’ll have to check it out as soon as I get the free time to do so. From just looking at the Web page though it does look pretty interesting.

The Autofill extension is also a good solution. You can find it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/184/

The latest version hasn’t been updated yet to work with FF2, however it can be made to work by unzipping the .xpi, editing the maxversion line to 2.0+ and rezipping. It works without problems in FF2. I use it to prefill forms and then make any changes using InFormEnter.
