Watch Out for that Extension!

DartThe folks over at Computer World have put together a list of Firefox extensions that you should avoid. Now I’ll say it from the start, I don’t agree with many of the choices they have on the list. Some like FasterFox (which for me has never improved my speed) I can understand. They don’t want you using Greasemonkey? AdBlock? NoScript? Those I can’t agree with too much.

Instead of calling it a list of extensions to stay away from, maybe they should rename the article “Extensions That Non-Power Users Should Stay Away From”. Then again, if your a power user – what Computer World says probably is not going to change your mind.

  • well, i dont know about FasterFox because i could never really tell the difference. but i was little like ACK! when prior to reading this article came across the list. i like all the readers kept quiet.

that article is probably one payed heavily by advertisers. these addons help a user surf better and safer on the internet and whoever said they should be avoided is totally crazy.
  • well, i have to say most about fasterfox is WRONG i mean what they have written there. If you uncheck prefetching option it doesn't make you a problem for servers.. fasterfox thou is more demanding for servers in turbo mode but that because it uses more than normal pipes to download pictures and stuff from webpage.. if i remember right then normal is 8 pipes and turbo mode makes it 40 it's 5 times faster but you can see it only on fast connections 2Mbit/sec and more..
