Less New Themes and Extensions?

Have we reached the peak of new Firefox extensions or has everything been done as far as themes go? I have been talking with several people from around the Web and it does seem like there are less new themes and extensions than there used to be.

Sound off and let me know what you think. Personally I’d say we are on at least at a slow down for the new ones. Old ones are still updated though – so that is something to be thankful for.

I do not agree...You cannot assume this, especially with the creative potential of the community involved in building those.

Wherever and whenever you provide a tool for human beings to tweak, change and customise, the possibilities are limitless.

This entry should be "Fewer New Themes and Extensions". Less is a singular term, fewer - plural.
  • I'd like to have some add-ons statistics on hand but in general my own perception is that yes there are currently (as in the last couple of months) a slow in the number of add-ons being released but it could just be some kind of seasonal trend.

I am sure however that FUEL, coming in Firefox 3, will speed up extension development.

Firefox is not easy to theme. The add-on site for themes is poorly organize. If you ever used Opera, I am using both, their site organize themes by descriptions and by color. Opera is easy to theme and have better themes. For example Mirage beta, which I wished that it can be ported over the firefox by somebody. All firefox themes have errors and compatiablity problems with extensions.

I think more themes and extensions are coming, however I am disappointed to see even styles from 'Personas for Firefox' are limited and not being added to.
  • There are new extensions out there - and new ideas being formulated. We are all waiting on Fx 3.0 to be released!

My biggest hope is that Fx 3.0 integrates some of the functions of some extensions I have been using!

Only to be expected. A new major release of FF with new features & capabilities sparks a wave of creativity among the extensibility development community. After a while, the options begin to dry up, and only the extremely creative and those with a need (necessity spawns invention, right) create anything new.

FF3 will be along soon enough, and spark a new wave of creativity. between then & now, those creative souls will have to content themselves with coming up with new Google gadgets & mashups.

Not too many new extensions or themes.

Waiting for many ol' favs to be updated though.
