CashAddOn - Seems Like a Scam

CashAddOnLooking to make a little green for shopping with a select number of stores Online? One new extension hopes you do - and its name is CashAddOn. This extension and the web site that goes along with it while promoting a “good deal” seems a little fishy to me.

They list percentages on their web site of how much you can make, but the terms of service seems to argue that these numbers actually might be lower. Also a “cash back” deal seems to be reject-able at any time since they say the stores can thumbs up it or thumbs down it at any time.

If for any reason the affiliate site does not process the expected funds from the purchase, we will not offer the cash back to our members. The amount listed on the ‘Store’ page and estimated values, and we do not commit to offering these amounts.

Last but not least we have another place tracking your shopping via a cookie in the browser. So if privacy is a big concern of yours - you might want to look elsewhere for your cheap ways to make some dough.

On the hopefully positive side - it is on the Mozilla Addons web site, so one hopes it made it through some sort of “sniff test”.

Maybe time will tell with this place, but for some reason something just doesn’t smell right with this extension. Maybe I’m just a little paranoid about the money for nothing deals. Then again, I am still waiting for that punched out monkey to deliver my iPod too.

It does seem a little fishy but hopefully they have good intentions.

Actually, it doesn’t seem fishy at all to me. For a while, there have been websites like fatwallet.com that provide affiliate links to all these shopping sites and also share the commissions, except this extension actually gives better percentages in most cases, and it really did do a good job with affiliating itself with a huge amount of stores. This extension just refreshes the page as if you had clicked on an affiliation link, and that explains the cookie. From a business perspective, the shopping sites are more than happy to give back a percentage of the money to the cashaddon company in return for generating the traffic for them. The extension then sends users the money to their paypal account. Its an ingenious idea and there really isn’t anything to worry about. This extension is going to rise to the top very fast.

I am Jon Fisher - the author, and I can assure you this is legit. There are lots of happy users, and I wish this blog would have at least tried out the add-on before casting his doubts. I can understand that there are those that think this is too good to be true. I invite you to try it out and contact me personally if you have any questions or suggestions. Best wishes,
- Jon

Jon, can you explain why you are a company with an address in GA, a NYC phone number but yet all from Israel?

And lets look at this, you registered the domain in june, it takes a min of 30 days to earn the money for these programs, then another 30 to get paid, most take longer on the first check… how does that timing work out for you to have a ton of happy customers? Did they all signup the first day?

There is so much fishy about this addon it should be in an aquarium.

And how come networks keep kicking you out? Oh yeah, because you are breaking the rules of affiliate marketing and screwing over other affiliates and merchants. Which means… those happy users aren’t going to be happy when they don’t get paid.

And alex you are wrong, this is junk traffic for merchants. It is making them pay for traffic that would otherwise be free to them.

Sites like fatwallet generate excitement and pr for the merchants, this addon does nothing and I personally know of 10 merchants trying to get out of having jon be an affiliate, but after being kicked out, it seems he signs up under other names and hides the fact the traffic is coming from the addon.

STAY AWAY.
