Keep That Tab Open – PermaTabs

I’ve touched on the PermaTabs extension before, but I think I failed at passing the message that this is a very excellent tool as far as getting the important things seen through the day.

PermaTabsFrom sun up to sun down, I keep Firefox open pretty much all the time – and I always have one or two web sites I want to keep open. PermaTabs does the best job at doing that for me – even if I have to restart Firefox from time to time. (yes, it does happen!)

If you haven’t picked up on it already this extension adds the ability to turn tabs of your choice into permanent tabs. PermaTabs can’t be closed accidentally (even when closing multiple tabs at once), and will stick around between sessions. No more lost link syndrome!

Want to save that link, but you need to restart the browser real quick? Just set it as a permanent tab for a few and when you come back it will still be there – waiting for you and your eventual return.

Isn’t that the behavior of “protect tab” function when I right click the tab’s title?

Permatabs is probably my most used extension. The only problem I’ve ever seen with it is when you restart Firefox and turn off the permanent feature before actually visiting the tab – it ends up not loading.

This is acquiring a bit a lot more subjective, but I a lot prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has much more flair, and some cool functions like ‘Mixview’ that let you swiftly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on 1 of those will center on that item, and an additional set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also good enjoyable, letting you locate other people with shared tastes and becoming buddies with them. You then can listen to a playlist created depending on an amalgamation of what all your good friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to understand you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits in the event you so pick.
