Here is an easy trick to speed up your Firefox downloading. First thing you must do is add the “Downloads” icon to your Firefox toolbar somewhere. From there you can do this to download quicker.
Drag and Drop onto the Downloads Toolbar Icon
Instead of right-clicking on a download link, choosing “save to target” and pressing enter, just drag the download link to the “downloads icon” in the toolbar. The download will start automatically.
Very nice quick trick to get around the “Save as..” box when downloading.

Never knew about this. I wonder what happens when you drag links on other icons inside of Firefox?

Neat!
I personally find it easier to Alt-click the link.
It also bypasses the “Save as..” box, but without all that dragging and dropping (and without an extra button on the tool bar).

Thanks, very neat!
What if i want to rename the file? Can i rename it once it started downloading?
Hi Jenna, I think you would probably have to wait till after it was downloaded to rename it and it would download to wherever you have Firefox set to download your files to in the options.
