Smart Bookmarks Bar

Running out of room in your bookmarks toolbar?  You could do some spring cleaning - but winter is quickly coming upon us.  Next idea?  Well the Smart Bookmarks Bar add-on for Firefox promises to simplify your cluttered bookmark rat’s nest.

It shrinks your bookmarks down to only the favicons.  So what?  Well, the magic happens when you hover over one of the bookmarks.  Bookmark names will be displayed when you mouse over them.  Pretty nifty, right?

You can pick up the Smart Bookmarks Bar on the Firefox Add-ons web site.

I think there’s another add-on that gets rid of the text completely on the bookmarks toolbar. It just leaves the favicon. I wish I could remember the name of the add-on. I recently re-installed Firefox and can’t find this one particular add-on.

Hi karmalily, this userChrome edit might help - haven’t tested it yet myself. Should hide the bookmark toolbar text.

karmalily, smart bookmarks bar has a setting to never show the name. it’s also granular enough to never show the name unless it’s got a generic favicon, so you can tell those apart.

if you’re sure you didn’t use smart bookmarks bar, might you have been thinking of faviconizetab?

it hides the names of the tabs. gives a similar effect to smartbookmarks bar except for the tab bar.
