Hi zakasack, see if this help with changing the awesome bar's search:

+ Search from the Address Bar in Firefox

If the above steps didn't help, the nuclear option would be backup, clean out your profile, uninstall firefox and then do a clean install. Hopefully you won't need to go that far. Hope that helps!

halo mr. mitch sorry to disturb you even in facebook ^^...
recently i just installed an add-on called sweet im this add-on change my default search engine in the awesome bar... (usually in ff if we type something it automatically direct us to google). instead it changes it into sweetimsearch bla2... (sorry forgot).

because its not to my liking i uninstalled the add-ons hoping it will restore my default search engine. but it doesnt help. although my search bar still can be used to search directly to google it just took a lot of effort to press ctrl+k first before searching something... (sorry i'm such a lazy guy). Please mr mitch if u have any advice concerning my problems...

On Linux the steps are exactly the same. However, in the rare occasion that one would need to delete an extension manually, he would use a text editor to open the text files, not a "notepad program" :)
