Firefox will automatically update itself when there is a new version to try. However, some people might not want to have Firefox update itself. Now, I will say this is definitely going to be a security risk, eventually. However, if you want to turn off automatic Firefox updates – these are the steps you need to take.
- At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options
- Click the Advanced panel.
- Click the Update tab. The update options are displayed.
Now, under Firefox Updates you should see three options:
- Warn me if this will disable any of my add-ons: If you wish to be prompted if the downloads will disable any installed add-ons, select that setting.
Hope this helps you out if you are looking for a way to disable Firefox from updating itself without you.
