Download Your Facebook Photo Album In need of a way to download all the images you may have uploaded to your Facebook photo album?  Sure you could go through each image, click by click and download each one individually.  Why do that though, when you have FacePAD.  This extension will let you grab all the photos from any album you need on Facebook.

Better known as the Facebook Photo Album Downloader, FacePAD will not only let you grab your own photo album, but will also let you download your friends’ photo album, event albums, and group albums with the click of a button.

Get Firefox Ready for Spring Storms

Now that spring is here, everybody is keeping an eye on the sky.  Tornados, thunderstorms, and more are taking over the countryside, so time to take a look at some of the best weather related extensions for Firefox to help you stay in the know with watches, warnings, radars and severe weather.

This add-on for Firefox enables users to view their current weather conditions, doppler radar, and international satellite maps.  It will also gather warning and 10-day forecast information from weather.com.

WeatherBug

An old familiar name, Weather Bug will also live in your Firefox browser status bar and give you live and local weather conditions.  It is also a little less cluttered looking, which is always a nice thing.

Forecastfox

Gathering information from AccuWeather.com, Forecastfox is highly customizable and very unobtrusive.  You can use your US zip code or you can easily find your town or city by using the built in search tool.

Forecastbar Enhanced

Formerly known as Forcastfox Enhanced, this popular Firefox add-on gives you a little ‘bit more as far as weather information goes.  This adds 12 improved radar images for US locations and 4 for international locations and the ability to supply a URL to use images from other sites.

Shrink a Link with Foxy URL

Need a new way to shorten your links?  Foxy URL hopes to be the extension you turn to, in that situation.  This add-on for Firefox keeps it nice and simple.  After you install it, you just add the icon for it to your navigation toolbar.  Once that is done, click on the icon and your link is shortened.

Click the “copy to clipboard” button and you are ready to share your link with the world.  That is it.  No fancy features, no unwanted fuss.  You can pick up the Foxy URL add-on for Firefox at the Firefox Add-ons site or via their own web site at FoxyURL.com.

Master’s Guide to Reloading a Tab in Firefox

Reload a Tab, Any Tab!There are a number of different ways you can reload or refresh a window in Firefox.  For such a simple task, you would have never imagined that people have put so much work into making it easier.  The truth of the matter though is they have, and I want to share with you all the tab reloading secrets that I know of (and hopefully you can share your own favorites with me).

Here are the add-ons to help you with your page loading and re-loading.

Now, I know a lot of people will say, “How hard is it to hit the refresh button in your browser?” So with that in mind, here are a few additional ways to reload that web page in question.

Refresh That Tab! Reloading Keyboard Shortcuts

Windows/Linux: F5 or Ctrl + R = Reload a Page

Apple: F5 or Cmd + R = Reload a Page

Extra Tip: Another way to reload that tab you are on is to left-click on the tab, drag it into the browser window and the release.  That will give it a quick refresh too.

Taking Net Notes with Firefox

Want to store notes you have taken across the Web in your bookmarks? 

Net Notes for Firefox

Net Notes will allow you to easily store notes on specific sites in your bookmarks.  Once you install Net Notes, you can start taking notes about the active tab you have open.  The Net Notes sidebar can be toggled (shown and hidden) via Firefox view menu, with a toolbar button, or with a customizable keyboard shortcut.  The notes themselves are edited in a simple textbox in your Firefox sidebar.  In the options, you can also set it to open your notes in a bottom bar instead.

When you close the sidebar or open a new window, the content of the notes textbox will automatically be saved for you.  To help you organize, web sites with notes are automatically tagged with a customizable, comma separated list of tags.  Since the notes are stored with your bookmarks, to backup, restore, import and export your notes just backup, restore, import or export your bookmarks.

Skip to the Download on Rapidshare, Megaupload and More!

Skip the download clock!Want to skip the totally unnecessary “wait to download” pages on Rapidshare, Megaupload and more?  SkipScreen, and add-on for Firefox is here to help.

I always hate reaching a download page that tells me I have to wait five seconds, ten minutes, three hours before I can start downloading a file.  Why is it there?  Well, it is a trick to be used to make you look at their advertisements. 

What free file hosting services does SkipScreen allow to to skip?

  • Rapidshare
  • Megaupload
  • DepositFiles

  • Link-protector
  • and more are on the way…

If the developers need a list to work from, I have found more than a few free file hosting alternatives myself. Here is a screen shot of SkipScreen in action, helping you to start the download before the “your download will begin shortly” even gets going.

So, what if these free file hosting services update themselves to break the SkipScreen add-on?  While that is a possibility, SkipScreen adjusts to the changes at these sharing sites, and updates to match their updates.

As the developer puts it, “Why click through ad-laden pages and wait for countdowns when your computer can do it for you?”.  That is a good question, and now thanks to the SkipScreen add-on for Firefox, you will not be wasting anymore of your time waiting for the download to begin.

Add a Cloud to Yahoo or Google Searches

Is there much you can do to improve on the modern search engines?  They all do the same thing, so it comes down to who does it best – but is that the end of it?  Maybe not.  Inserting a cloud of search terms may help make even the best search engine out there even better.  Search Cloudlet inserts smart tag clouds into Google and Yahoo interface to help you search faster.

The way this add-on for Firefox works is that it contains the most relevant information about the search term in question.  The more important the word, the bigger it gets in the text link cloud.  Here is more about the add-on from the developers:

If you often use Google or Yahoo to search through news or blogs, then Search Cloudlet is exactly what you need. For News search there are Source Cloud and Location Cloud. These clouds can help you determine country, region or state of the found news and their publishers. For Blogs search there is also Author Cloud view. You can use these context-aware clouds to narrow your search the same way you would do it with tag clouds.

Add Live (Suggesting) Search to Firefox

Ever wanted to add Microsoft’s Live Search to your Firefox browser?

No, me neither – but they have released and add-on to help you do just that.

The Live Search add-on is a little late to the dance, however I am not going to totally shoot them down.  At least they are making the effort, right?  What does it do?  It gives you the “suggestion” feature for search terms when you search using Live search via the Firefox search box. 

Definitely, if you are a fan of Live search, give this a shot.  All three of you should be extremely happy.

Store 50 Tabs in Multiple Extra Rows

1230289252 Are you running short on room for your multiple tabs?  TooManyTabs is an add-on for Firefox that will give you the ability to store up to 50 tabs in multiple extra rows with a simple click.

In turn, with this extra organization, you have better visualization and prioritizing for the pages you are navigating through.  Here are a few more details from the TooManyTabs developer:

Instead of allowing idle tabs to waste your PC’s memory, you can now put your tabs on the extra rows, remove them from the memory, and restore* them in your browser when you need them again. The extra rows also allow you to better prioritize and visualize your tabs. Finding the right tab have never been easier! It is now guilt-free to be a tab-aholic!

Quicker Web Searches with Searchy

Need a quicker way to search the Web?

Searchy add-on for Firefox

Searchy, a new experimental add-on for Firefox will allow you to do that in a very stylish and unique way.  Once you get it installed, just hit Ctrl+Shift+K to bring up the Searchy search box, then type in what you are looking for.  You will get the results in real time as you type.

Also, another neat tip is that you can use “@” before your search to just search the web site you are on at the time.  If your not in love with the keyboard combo you must use to get it to search – that can easily be changed in the options.

It might not re-invent searching, however Searchy does give a pretty (and unique) new face to something we all do every single day.  To learn more about the development of the extension, be sure to check out the Searchy’s official web site.
