Hey! Just Blog It Already!

screenshot3 Want to just blog it?  There is a neat new Firefox addon that you might be interested in.  The addon, rightfully named JustBlogIt lets you blog from Firefox using a plethora of different blogging methods.  The promise here is to blog anything from Firefox’s right-click context menu.

Which blogging scripts and services are supported?

Blogger, Drupal, LiveJournal, Movable Type, Radio Userland, TextPattern, TypePad, WordPress, journalspace, b2evolution and BLOG:CMS and more!

If you want the latest and greatest version, pick it up from the add-on’s official web site.  You can also find the latest “Mozilla tested, mother approved” version on Mozilla’s own add-on site.

ScribeFire - Any Blogger’s Right Hand Man

Digging through my archived posts I knew I had written something about ScribeFire before, but could not find it. How could I overlook one of the best blogging tools for Firefox? ScribeFire, which used to be known as Performancing for Firefox) is the hands down best blog editor that turns Firefox into a publishing machine.

To get started, all you need to do is download the addon from the Mozilla web site, restart Firefox and then launch ScribeFire by clicking on the orange task bar icon or right clicking on any web site and selecting “blog this page” from the ScribeFire menu item.

For the best blog updater I often recommend people uses Windows Live Writer. If it isn’t your cup of tea though my number two choice would definitely be ScribeFire.

WordPress.com Posting in Sidebar

WordPress.com Posting in SidebarWordPress.com makes for a great publishing platform.

Some folks out there have e-mailed me and asked for an easier way to post to it. Well, after doing some searching I ran across an extension that will let you blog from your sidebar in Firefox.

The Wordpress.com Sidebar extension puts a button in your browser that allows you to click it and open up an editor on the sidebar where you can get your posting done.

Project Update - Hosting Hoopla

Hosting HooplaNow spending a lot of time talking about things that are not related to Firefox or browsing here just seems like it is a little silly. Just give me five minutes though of your time (or less) and I promise you will feel the effort was worth it.

I just re-launched an older project of mine, HostingHoopla.com. From this point on my hope is this will be “the” list people come to, to find out some of the best news, resources, help, and more on and about the web development and web hosting worlds most of us have to deal with on a daily basis.

Of course you can subscribe via the RSS feed or even get daily e-mail updates. Don’t forget the mobile device friendly version of the Hosting Hoopla link list as well. Many ways to take in the hosting goodness.

So if your a web hosting or web development junkie like me, come check it out and let me know what you think, what you would like to see and more.

Firefox 2 Unstable?

I found this random snipit from the Center for Citizen Media.

Running the latest version of Firefox is a huge drag — repeated freezes that require a forced shutdown of the application on my MacBook Pro. Growing pains for the Mozilla folks or just sloppy coding?

That’s it. Now why go Online, post a totally random comment and not back it up with any proof? Now, I have never used Firefox on any Apple product, but these sort of cheap shots just make me a little angry. If this is “citizen media” I think I favor the older kind best. ;)

Mozilla Labs

It looks like Mozilla Labs now has it’s own blog. I am pretty excited to see what comes of this in the future. Here is just a little sample of what was said in post number one.

This web log presents updates from the new Mozilla Corporation effort, Mozilla Labs. Labs is a place for “exploring the future of the web experience”. The discussion around Labs started with the informed musing of Mitchell Baker, Chief Lizard Wrangler, and the need for prototypes in the Mozilla product development process.
