Somebody must have sneezed, because it is time for another side by side comparison of Internet Explorer and Firefox. This time We are looking at the RC1 release of both browsers.

Internet Explorer version 7 RC1 and Firefox version 2 RC1 are now out so I thought it would be a good time to do some simple side-by-side comparisons. The “RC” stands for Release Candidate, meaning that these are the near-final versions.

Internet Explorer 7 vs Firefox 2.0

The people at bit-tech.net give us yet another side by side comparison of the new Internet Explorer and Firefox 2.0. The entire article in question has a lot of interesting points, but the last paragraph left me a little shocked.

If IE7 is such a massive improvement, it’s hard to see what about the new Firefox really justifies the moniker ‘2.0’. It really seems like more of a 1.6 – there’s not a lot of difference here. The browser wars just got a lot more interesting…

Firefox Team Invited to Microsoft?

Sorry, this story just asks for an oddball title. The news here is “Microsoft’s open source software lab has extended a helping hand to Mozilla Corp. if it’s interested in making sure the Firefox browser and Thunderbird e-mail client run under Windows Vista.”

I say good job Microsoft! At least they realize that there is an audience for an alternative Internet browser. Then again, maybe they want to drug them all and turn them into Microsoft zombies?

Firefox Outfoxes IE

Firefox Outfoxes IE

bLaugh looks better in Firefox. In fact, we’ve gone out of our way to optimize our GIFs for Firefox. Everybody knows that graphics render themselves better in Firefox. Internet Explorer makes images look like graphics, whereas Firefox makes images look more image-like. We think Firefox is teh shiz.

IE7 vs Firefox 2 – Security

So out of the two big browsers of the future, which one will handle security issues better?

Microsoft and Mozilla are on a collision course, both racing to complete major updates to their flagship web browsers scheduled for release this fall. Over the past two years, Firefox has zoomed from nowhere to gobble a significant chunk of market share at Internet Explorer’s expense. The biggest selling point for Firefox is its generally better record on security issues; so it’s no accident that Microsoft has paid significant attention to beefing up security features in Internet Explorer 7.

IE Lover’s Guide to Firefox

I always like to see interesting views from both sides of the fence. In my own opinion, I think a lot of folks haven’t switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox because they just don’t see the reasons for it. They both surf the same Web right? Well, over at H3RALD.com they have an interesting article covering an IE lover’s view of the Firefox browser.

Switch Back to IE?

InformationWeek has posted an interesting article asking if Microsoft can get folks to switch back to Internet Explorer. You aren’t going to see me do it, and this article points out many reasons why I wouldn’t. I think the competition is good for the industry. I also think we haven’t even come close to seeing the browser wars’ “shock and awe” period just yet.
