Add a Dislike Button to Facebook

Adding Dislike to Facebook You can “like” things on Facebook, so why can you not “dislike” things too? If you use Facebook, and you have Firefox – you can now add the feature some have really been wanting. You get the ability to dislike things that your friends have posted.  These two add-ons (pick the one you like most) will get the job done.

Facebook Dislike – This is an extension for all the pro-dislike Facebook groups out there.  After installing, you can dislike posts, and each time you do, the author of the extension keep track of it for everybody.  So this way, if somebody else installs the add-on, they too can see all the stories that have been disliked.

Facebook Dislike Button – Now why feature two add-ons that do the same job?  Well with this add-on, a comment will also be posted on your friend’s page on your behalf notifying them that you disliked the story using the dislike button.

While Facebook themselves mull over the idea of adding this to the user interface, you can add this functionality to your Facebook page here and now.

Just do me a favor and don’t dislike me!

Love (or Disable) the New Tab Button

New Tab Button in Firefox

Love it, or hate it – Firefox got one more addition to it’s browser that seems to have gotten a mixed reaction from the fans. The open new tab button rests at the end of your tab bar in Firefox 3.5 giving you an easier user interface to open a new tab.

Clicking on the little “+” icon at the end of your open tabs, opens a new tab.  Seems simple enough, and I do like the fact that it gives one more clean way for new users to instantly figure it out.

How do I remove the new tab button? Well, if you are handy with editing your userChrome.css file – this should be an easy customization to put in place.  Just add this line:

.tabs-newtab-button {display: none;}

To edit your userChrome.css file, you must first locate it inside of your profile folder.  Depending on your operating system of choice, that location might differ.  Check out “where is my Firefox profile folder?” for more information.

So how do you feel, love the new icon or is it in your way?

Add a Recently Closed Tab Button to Firefox

Recently Closed Tab ButtonSure, keyboard shortcuts are handy to have – but sometimes a button is even better.  The Closed Tabs Button add-on for Firefox will give you an easy one button access to all of your recently closed tabs.  If you are tired of going to History > Recently Closed Tabs just to undo a closed tab, then this extension is for you!

Not only does this add-on give you a fancy new button, it also gives you a new keyboard shortcut to access the most recently closed tab (CTRL+SHIFT+Z).

After installing the extension, to add it to your own browser interface you must add the button by going to View > Toolbars > Customize, then drag and drop the button anywhere on the toolbar.

The Closed Tab Button add-on for Firefox might be a little on the simple side, however when there is just a little problem to be fixed – nice to see an extension that gets the job done right without too much bloat.
