Looking for a tool that will help you find and edit all the little hidden Firefox advanced configurations? Configuration Mania is a powerful addon for both Firefox 2 and the Firefox 3 Beta 4 that does a lot for being such a little addition to the browser. I am really impressed by this little jewel of an extension because it has just about every hidden away and forgotten about edit and modification you an make the browsing experience all in one place.
Want the super tweaker that does a bit of everything? Configuration Mania is the extension for the job.

Are you one of those people that likes to tweak around with what is behind the pretty Firefox curtain? If you want to jerk back the interface and get to the guts of the browser, you might need to jump here or jump there to get to the settings you need.
One person made this job a little easier with the Edit Config Files extension for Firefox. Once installed it gives you quick and easy access to such things as the about:config screen and your UserChrome.css file as well. Here is a full list of the options from the extension.
UserChrome.css, UserContent.css, prefs.js, user.js, Open Profile Folder, and about:config. Quick and easy access to all the tweakers’ tools. Now I wouldn’t suggest messing around with these unless you know what your doing - but if you do this extensions can be a real time saver because you no longer have to go on a hunt for how to open each of these options up.

Over at the Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog - the guru himself has posted a quick little hack that will help you place your addons and downloads into the Firefox sidebar. If you are not a big fan of the pop up windows they come to you in now, this might just be the solution you are looking for.
The best thing about this is you don’t need to download another extension to get it done. You just have to do some changing around in your bookmarks.

Power to the people! Here is a tip sent in from Christian on how to edit how your tabs are displayed.
Are you using the latest Firefox 2 and Tab Mix Plus, and getting sick of discovering hidden tabs when you have too many open?
Try this: Display : Tab Bar : When Tabs Don’t Fit : select “multi-row”, and then tell it to use only one row.
This should prevent too many tabs from getting your tabs hidden, and instead go back to simply squashing all your tabs together (like it did with Firefox 1.5 and the old Tab Mix Plus).
Have a tip of your own? Send it in to me, and don’t forget to mention your URL as well. I’ll get it posted here and give you a little free press as well.

I ran across this link via one of those bookmark tracking services. For those of you who might not know about all the hidden configuration pages you can access via Firefox, this would be a nice place to start.
I found myself staring at the “about:blank” parameter for an IE installation today, and that got me thinking if it works in other browsers too. It did. I’m using Firefox, and that cleared the address bar to a blank. And then I figured the developers HAD to include some more address bar commands and started looking them up.

One of the best features about Firefox is the about:config window. You can hack away and play with just about every aspect of the browser from there. Here is a guide I ran across that helps you use about:config to get rid of a few annoyances.
After installing Firefox, there are things I must do every time to make it behave sanely. Thank God for about:config. Strange how all of these things are disabling some feature of Firefox. Maybe Firefox tries to do too much.

Want to know a little more about some of the “hidden” parts of Firefox’s configuration? Well, over at JiggedyJoo (I just typing that) they have gone through just about all of them very quickly. This would be a good spot for a beginner to learn about such things as “about:config”.
Quite a few people know about the about:config page of Firefox, but there are more options than that under the hood of everyone’s favorite browser.
To peruse the contents of the cache, you can enter about:cache into the address bar, hit and look through. This has the advantages of being able to look at content stored locally, great if the connection breaks, or if the material on the site gets taken down / removed.
