I have looked at Shareaholic, the super-charged link sharing tool for Firefox, before in the past, however, there have been many new features and renovations since the last time I checked out this power house of a Firefox extension.

I thought it would be worth the effort to re-introduce you to this fine add-on for Firefox.

What is so Special About Shareaholic?

The main idea behind Shareaholic, is to be the ultimate add-on for the link sharing addict. It works with Facebook, Twiter, MySpace, digg, Gmail, StumbleUpon and more; giving you instant access to reach for all your link submitting and sharing needs.

One nice feature new to me, since the last time I checked out this add-on is the ability to customize how the add-on is displayed in Firefox. You can have it show up in the URL bar, in your context menu, or as a button in the navigation panel.

By far, this is one of the best add-ons to get your hands on if you are a social network junkie, and need any easy way to submit to them all. With that said though, you can easily customize which social sites are viewable (or not) in the options too.

Any Firefox add-on that lets me customize how to use it, so that I can make it suit my own needs even more is a winner in my book. De-clutter your browser and pick up Shareaholic up on the official web site, Shareaholic.com or via the Firefox Add-ons site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

AutoPager is an extension that will automatically load the next page in a series of links so you have a continuous and infinite scrolling web page. By default AutoPager works with a ton of sites, including Lifehacker, the New York Times, Digg, and, of course, Google.

What if you want to use this add-on on a web site it was not configured to work with yet? Check out this tutorial on how to create new rules for the AutoPager extension:

How to Create AutoPager Rules for New Web Sites

So if you are tired of hitting “Next” then get yourself to the Firefox Add-ons site to pick up this recommended add-on. If you want to learn more about AutoPager, you can also visit it’s official section over at teesoft.info.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Always hate to see it, but you know it happens. The good sites always go down first. Sure, maybe they weren’t ready for all that traffic. They had so much to live for though! Need an extension to let you know when any web site is back up and running? If so, it might be time to call Mr Uptime (who is now ready to use finally with Firefox 3).

This is an extension I mentioned here before. It will keep trying to reach the web site in the background while you continue to surf to other sites. As soon as the web site in question is back, Mr Uptime will give you a tap on the shoulder to let you know. Here are a few more words on its features.

Status change
Watch when the server status code changes from an error to OK (HTTP status code 200).

Keywords
Set a keyword that the website should or should not contain to be considered ok.

Time to watch
Set how long you want to keep checking a website. After this time it will be removed from the watch list even if it hasn’t become available.

Notifications
Choose to open the website in a new tab or a new window when it becomes available. You can also optionally get an alert dialog box to notify you when a website is working again.

Easy to use and discreet
The interface will not clutter your Firefox window. The toolbar is only shown when an error is encountered or when you choose to open it yourself. You will not get another toolbar taking up valuable space in Firefox.

You can learn more about the Mr Uptime add-on via the Firefox Add-ons page for it or visit the official site at mruptime.pingdom.com.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Digg Firefox 3 Extension from Kevin Rose on Vimeo.

Here are Digg’s official descriptions of these two new key features:

Notifications: No matter where you are on the web, you can discover popular Digg stories and stay up to date on what your friends are Digging, submitting and commenting. These notifications are fully customizable. Within your preferences you can track different categories and media types, and turn notifications on or off.

Digg Toolbar: Displays Digg counts & comments as you browse around the web. You can also Digg and submit stories directly from the toolbar, which is collapsible to save space. Note that the toolbar respects user privacy by passing only hashed URLs to Digg to check if they’ve already been submitted.

Overall I’d say it was a lot more unique than I was expecting, so if you spend a lot of your day going back and forth on Digg, this toolbar is for you. You can download the new add-on on Digg.com.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Knowing that by the time I get there, the page will probably have already been dugg to death or viewed by so many people on reddit, del.icio.us and others that I won’t be able to view it, I often give up. Firefox gives us a few more chances to bring that popular web site back up from the dead.

Handy Links and Bookmarklets

First solution I have to share with you would be the bookmarklet way of doing things. Thanks to Stephen Ostermiller and his Cache Bookmarklets – you too can view Coral Cache, Google Cache, or the Wayback Machine history when it comes to checking out that cool link all your friends are talking about.

You could always visit come of these caching services by hand too. Just toss these addresses in front of your link:

Google – http://google.com/search?q=cache:link

Coral (CDN) - http://redirect.nyud.net:8090/?url=link

Archive.org – http://web.archive.org/web/*/link

DotCache – http://www.dotcache.com/link

All you have to do is replace the word “link” with your own URL you are trying to visit. Handy list of bookmarks to keep by your side. What about the add-on fix?

Firefox Add-ons to Help Resurrect Pages

If you would rather go the extension route, then pick up the Resurrect Pages add-on for Firefox. This tool will give you a way to access these services and more right from the browser. It works from:

the context (right-click) menu for the current page, and for all links.

in the toolbar, just customize it to drag the button in.

with the keyboard: press Ctrl-Shift-U

Another extension for Firefox that may do the trick is CacheIt. It will also display an archived version of the page you are viewing or the link you are hovering over. Does a lot of the same things Resurrect Pages does, it just does it differently.

More Add-ons to Try: Cache View, ErrorZilla Mod, and TADSEE

Got Greasemonkey? Try Digg.com Mirrors. I wish I could toss in a few more Greasemonkey fixes but all the scripts out there that used to be good just are not updated as much as they used to be.

Now you should be ready to view any popular link your friends have to send your way without the fear of being the one “out of the loop” due to the web site being down. Have anymore fixes I didn’t mention? Please share!

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
I have a feeling you would get something that looks like the newest edition to the social news bookmarking world Foxiewire.com.

Another new Spread Firefox project, this one shows a lot of promise. It is built on the digg cloning script, pligg – so the interface should be one that you are used to by now. The only thing that bugs me thus far is when you click on a link, it does not take you directly to the story.

Oh the other thing that bugs me is there is no mention of Firefox Facts! (only kidding guys) If you are looking for yet another Web site to help you stay on top of the Firefox world – Foxiewire might be the place for you.
