New Portable Firefox Details

Thanks to Jim for pointing this one out to me. It looks like Portable Firefox has a new edition out with some awesome features not seen before.

Portable Firefox is now Mozilla Firefox – Portable Edition (Firefox Portable among friends), and version 1.5.0.5 has been released. It’s the popular Mozilla Firefox web browser packaged with a PortableApps.com Launcher as a portable app, so you can take your bookmarks, extensions and saved passwords with you. This new release adds in a ton of new features, including: the ability to run from a CD, complete Firefox partial update support, in-place upgrades, lots of handy bug fixes, support for running within Wine on *nix and more.

Save Granny, Get Firefox!

This has to be one of the most unique ways to spread Firefox that I have seen thus far. Save Granny is run by a group of Stanford students who have been working with the Mozilla Foundation to help spread Firefox. I think this would be a great and humorous Web site to get folks who don’t know about Firefox started with the browser.

Belive in the Power of Firefox

Now I will not lie, I am not really a man of faith. Apparently though, some Firefox users are. For these users that are a little more religious than me, I have for you the Faith Browser.

Make the internet a reflection of your values and your faith with these simple tools. One tool builds a Bible verse into your browser. The other changes the appearance of the buttons. Together, they help you keep your faith close at heart whenever you are online.

Free Firefox Wallpaper

ffwp.pngSure you love using Firefox as your browser, but your not a true fan unless you have some wallpaper love for your Internet companion. I recently ran across a plethora of free Firefox wallpaper, and much of it I really like. The only problem I could see is that most (if not all) are set at the 1024 x 768 resolution.

Update Notifier

Why is it that Firefox can let you know when there is a new version of the browser available, but will not tell you when your themes or extensions need an update? This is one flaw in the Firefox system that I hope will be worked out over time.

Till that day in time comes though, I have a Firefox extension that will solve your problems. The Update Notifier extension will let you know when it is time to update all those neat extra features you have plugged into your browser.

10,000 Downloads Later

I talked about hitting the milestone before, but now it has happened. The eBook, Firefox Facts has been downloaded over 10,000 times. This just goes to show you that when you put out a quality product and you price it for free, good things will happen. Of course, many thanks go out to Lockergnome and Gada.be. Asa’s mention of the eBook really helped put us over the 10,000 downloads mark, so I want to thank him for that as well.

Video Downloader

I’ve been playing with a new Firefox extension over the weekend that allows you to download those embedded movies that you see on Web sites. The extension is called, Video Downloader. The only catch I can find is that it has to be one of the video services they support. The good news is they support about two dozen (including MySpace, Google Video, YouTube, iFilm and more). Well worth the download if you find yourself wanting to save a lot of media from the Web.
