Definitely not. You just have to reach it in a different way.

To bring up a quick list of links you have previously browser to, simply right-click on the back button in Firefox 4. When you do so, the old drop down history list pops back up in all its glory – with up to 10 previous pages you have navigated to.

Now, I do understand they did this to cut down on the clutter – however if I had not accidently right-clicked the back button to find it, I would have never known the functionality was there.

Want to navigate your tabs via a menu selection in the top menu bar in Firefox?

Usually folks are trying to figure out ways to make their menu bar shorter and not longer. I guess in this circumstance though adding the option to your toolbar might be increasing Firefox’s usability to some. The extention to help you get this job done is called Tabs Menu.

Adds a Tabs menu to the main menu that lets you easily change between tabs. Adds a Tabs menu to the main menu bar that lists all tabs in the current window. You can see the full titles for each tab and you can see more tabs in this vertical menu than in the standard horizontal tab bar.

Tabs Menu might not an extension on everybody’s top ten list – but I think it is well worth checking out.

The search box in Firefox is that box for searching (boy, definitions don’t get any better than that) usually located in the upper right of your browser window. By default you see it set to Google, but did you know you can use others that are listed there or install more of your own?

To use the search box, all you need to do is type in a phrase you’d like to search for into the box, and then hit the “Enter” key on your keyboard. From there you’ll be taken to a Web page with search results as you would see by going to the search engine’s Web site and doing it directly.

If you want to choose one of the other search engines you have installed, just click on the little square logo next to the search engine icon and you should get a drop down box with all the search engines you have installed. Pick the one you want to use, and then its icons should be shown beside the search box. To switch back, follow the same steps.

If there is a search engine that you need that doesn’t come with Firefox by default you can install it yourself to use. You can find a list of popular search plugins here. For even more choices, check out the Mycroft Project. If you want to make your own – this Web page is a good place to start learning how to do just that.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Ever wanted a drop-down menu of all your open tabs? The Tabs Menu Firefox extension does just that. This was not one of my must have features in Firefox, but now that I have tried it – it isn’t that bad at all.

The menu lists all the tabs contained in the current window so that it’s easier to see the full titles of tabs and switch between them when the tab’s title becomes too small to read or the tabs have disappeared off the right-hand side.
