eWeek Creates Firefox FUD

Yes, it looks like even the folks over at eWeek are trying to spread the fear, uncertainty and doubt about Firefox 2 RC2 with their latest article titled, “Firefox 2.0 RC2 Is a Step… Backwards?“. Now with a title like that, you would expect to hear they took out tabbed browsing, or the new styled RSS feeds. No, they moan about a couple of features I didn’t even know Firefox 2 had – over I never used.

Shame on Jim Rapoza and eWeek.com for trying to get more eyeballs with a Chicken Little headline.

Firefox’s Best Feature

Picking Firefox’s best feature is like asking what is your favorite part of a vanilla ice cream scoop. It is all good in my opinion. One person at least thinks that Firefox’s “Quick Search” feature beats them all.

Before I began using Firefox, I used a IE mod called Avant Browser. Avant was fantastic at the time, it added Tabbed browsing, themes, domain aliases and a little thing called quick searching. If if you are all familiar with Firefox, you are probably familiar with Quick Searching. In my opinion, it eliminates the Search box, which is by default, turned on, in Firefox.

Personally I never really got into the whole Slashdot thing. Sure, I read it from time to time. Most of the time though, it just confused the heck out of me. I guess some of it was a little over my head. Well, if you have ever used Slashdot and figured you wanted a few more tools to help you navigate the Web site, then you need the Slashdotter Firefox extension.

Firefox 2 Roadmap

Now digging through this information to find out what is coming to our favorite browser might now be the most fun thing you can do with your Friday morning. The Mozilla team has updated the Firefox 2 Roadmap with a few intresting notes about what you can expect to see in the future.
