Firefox 4 really brought a new look and feel to the browser that was refreshing for me. However, some people still like the overall look and feel of the Google Chrome browser more. Well, now you can have the best of both worlds with the FXChrome theme for Firefox.

FXChrome is a nice mix of both Firefox 4′s theme and Google Chrome’s theme mashed together. While many people would argue that the themes are pretty similar already – and I might have to agree there – I do like the flat buttons from Chrome that FXChrome brings to the table.

Want to download it and give it a shot? You can grab it on the Firefox Add-ons website.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

This inspirational theme, created for the Firefox browser, is one of the most attractive themes I have seen in some time. Designed with the idea in mind that simple/flat designs tend to be more appealing than overly decorated ones; Purity is ready to refresh your browsing experience.

The author of the theme notes that some of the theme is still a work in progress, as many of the dialog icons are from the stock Aero theme. However I have high hopes for this unique browser skin.

You can download and install the Purity theme for Firefox (Windows only) at the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Why does Firefox have that little resizer corner thingy? The one that rests in your status bar, on the far right side. I am not even sure what to call it. It has no point, because I can grab Firefox from all four corners to resize it to the size I want. So the question remains – how do I remove it?

I now turn towards my favorite Firefox modification tool, Stylish to do the job for me. Go check out ffox 3 no resize”thing” in the lower right corner and load that into Stylish (or Greasemonkey). Now, you should have a little more status bar room.

As an extra bonus, if you want to make your status bar appear more flat, and remove the borders between things – copy and paste this into Stylish.

/* ::::: flat statusbar ::::: */
.db_downbar, statusbarpanel, .statusbarpanel-iconic,
  .statusbarpanel-iconic-text, .statusbarpanel-menu-iconic,
.progressmeter-statusbar, progressmeter {
  -moz-appearance: none !important;
  border: none !important;}

Credit for that tip goes to the mozillaZine forums. Doing so should remove the junk and leave things with a cleaner look.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

If you are in search for a new dark theme to replace your Christmas themed one you got last week, have no fear – I have a good one for you. Glaze Black is a simple and flat theme for Firefox. Oh, did I mention it is black too? You can oooooh and awww at the screenshot below:

As you can see, it has a very simple look and feel to it (which is something I like to look for in a theme, personally). You can pick it up on the Firefox Add-ons web site and be sure to stop by and see the creator of the theme at theme-oasis.org.

As a ‘bit of an extra tip – you can pick up a white version of this same theme here.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
