Ever needed to search through, correct or delete the entries that are saved to the form history inside of Firefox? With Firefox alone, this can not be done. If you download the add-on Form History Control – then you will be optimizing your saved form history in no time at all.

If you don’t clear your browser’s recent history religiously, you might have noticed that you have several entries to choose from when you start to type inside of a text form.

The Form History Control add-on for Firefox gives you the ability to do all kinds of neat things with this information. You can sort the list of form history. You can filter (by selecting one of the filters) to slim down the list of forms you are checking into. You can edit past phrases that have been saved, to correct them for spelling or grammar too. The best tool included with Form History Control might be the cleanup option. This will automate the removal of form history.

The history of specific form fields can easily be managed by right clicking in the form you wish to manage. You can then select to delete the complete history for that specific form, delete the current value you have selected or go in and manage the entries for this one form.

You can pick up the Form History Control add-on from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Ever lost something you just typed into a web form, and wanted to get it back? Lazarus: Form Recovery, a security related add-on for Firefox, will auto-save anything you type into forms as you type.

Have a server crash?

Did the page timeout?

Did Firefox go down an a blaze of glory?

No matter what the problem, you can go back to the form, right-click your mouse, choose “recover form” and get your information back.

Here is a little more information about Lazarus: Form Recovery from the add-on developer:

Lazarus works on web forms, WYSIWYG editors and AJAXified forms and will save you from almost any given server, browser, or connection problems that might otherwise cause you to lose your work. Lazarus now comes with 2048-bit RSA and 256-bit AES hybrid encryption so your data is more secure than ever! Lazarus 2.0 also includes search functionality so you can recover text even if you can no longer find the original form you entered it into.

If you often run into the situation where you just lost what you typed, this add-on for Firefox is your perfect proverbial right-hand man. You can pickup the Lazarus: Form Recovery add-on for Firefox from the Firefox Add-ons site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
If so then the Autofill Forms extension for Firefox might be a tool you want to take advantage of.

Autofill Forms enables you to fill out web forms with one click or a keyboard shortcut. A set of customizable rules is used to determine the input for each form element. You are able to edit, remove, enable/disable the provided rules and to add your own ones. You can configure the order in which the rules are to be applied and define site specific rules.

I wouldn’t be relying on this extension to remember every single thing – but it does come in handy for the tedious stuff.

The other day, my sister said that the only reason she was using the Yahoo! toolbar with Firefox was for the auto-fill function that my brother-in-law liked.

At the time I did not know of a separate extension that would do the same thing. Well, I am happy to say after a little searching – I have found one.

The InFormEnter extension promises to save all of your important information so you can enter it into Web forms as you need or desire to.

InFormEnter adds a small, clickable icon next to every input field in a web form, from where you can select the item to be inserted – no typing required. You can configure it to display your frequently used information such as name, email, address and whatever else you want to be available from the form menu.

I might have to add this to the short list of extensions I use on a daily basis. It makes it really handy when you have a lot of Web forms to fill out.

The Resizeable Form Fields extension might go down as one of the best Firefox extensions to date. It looks like I am not alone, because Asa Dotzler looks to be like a big fan of it as well.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve posted the various extensions I use in Firefox. I’ve ended up with a few “critical” extensions that I simply cannot do with out. The top extension on my list was called Resizeable Text Area. This extension allows you to grab the corner of a text area and drag it to enlarge the text area like you would do for a window on the desktop.

Well now it works with Firefox 2, so you have no excuse not to pick it up and find out what all the fuss is about.
