The Mozilla Labs Game On competition is over. The web game development competition spawn a lot of creative and amazing games. I can say one thing for sure, I sure am glad I didn’t have to decide who was the best of the best. The best overall winner was Marble Run – but there were a lot of other awards handed out.

So who are the big winners? Here is a quick rundown:

BEST OVERALL: MARBLE RUN

BEST TECHNOLOGY: FAR 7

BEST WEB-INESS: MARBLE RUN

BEST AESTHETICS: SKETCHOUT

MOST ORIGINAL: FAVIMON

MOST POLISHED: WEBSNOOKER

MOST FUN: ROBOTS ARE PEOPLE TOO

COMMUNITY CHOICE: Z-TYPE

Go check out all the winners on the Mozilla Labs website, and let me know which one was your favorite. For myself, I would have to say Favimon takes the cake for me. It is simple, strange and very fun to play.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Want to be able to download some of the best HD 1080p videos from across the internet, but missing that Firefox add-on that promises to get it all done in a simple way? KeepTube is the video downloading extension you might want to take a look at.

According to the author of the KeepTube add-on you can:

Download Youtube Videos (HD 1080p & 720p/HQ MP4, FLV, 3GP) Dailymotion (HQ MP4, FLV), Megavideo (HD/HQ FLV) Google (HQ MP4, FLV), Vimeo (HQ MP4) Break (HQ MP4, FLV), Veoh (HQ MP4, FLV), Metacafe, Spike, Myspace, Facebook, Current, and more!

They even supply a neat chart covering all the video downloading basics they provide, that others don’t.

Color me impressed. The positive thing about the KeepTube add-on is it supports a lot of websites. Bad news is, it still will not support every single website you might watch videos on. However, that is an eventual flaw all these video download add-ons have.

On the negative side, I really don’t like how this add-on puts itself all over the browser. Give me one simple button or addition to the webpages I visit. It seems like it is invading my space, just a little ‘bit.

Overall, if you don’t have a video downloading add-on you are in love with yet – give KeepTube a shot. It gets the job done, supports tons of websites out there and you can download it for free on the official Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Are you in need of a screen recording device but don’t want to bother installing a bunch of extra applications or services just to get the job done? Capture Fox is the add-on for Firefox you need to pick up.

Here you can see what the videos look like after recording:

Once installed, the browser add-on rests inside of your status bar, ready to record when you are. You can select to record just what is inside the Firefox browser or your entire screen too.

Some of the other abilities of Capture Fox include:

Record a voice over while you do the screen capture

Tweak the Audio and Video Codec

Set the Delay in Recording

Minimize Firefox Upon Recording

and much more!

If you are searching for an easier way to capture video from your computer’s desktop, this add-on is the perfect tool for the job. Go learn more about it at CaptureFox.com or download Capture Fox from the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Now I know many people don’t like pandering to the audience for things, however I do want to let you all know it is really easy to follow Firefox Facts in a number of different ways.

Subscribe via RSS

All you have to do to subscribe to the RSS feed is click that orange icon in the Firefox address bar.

You will then be given many different options in which you can subscribe to the feed. You can set it up as a Live Bookmark or you could use services like Google Reader, Bloglines and more to get instant access to all the Firefoxy goodness you will find here.

Subscribe via E-mail

To subscribe by e-mail, and get daily e-mail updates when a new post has been made – type your e-mail address into the empty text box at the top, and hit the “Subscribe!” button.

Once you do, a window will pop up asking you to type in a series of letters to verify you really want to subscribe. once you do, click the “Complete Subscription Request” button and your all set.

It is all totally free, as I don’t charge you a dime (nor would I want to). The only revenue I make from the site is from the Google ads your hopefully not blocking, to pay for the upkeep of the site.

Big thanks to the 7,000+ that are subscribing already and the many more who come in to check out the web site daily. You ROCK!

You can also follow me and my projects on Twitter @mitchkeeler!

So there is your how to subscribe to Firefox Facts public service announcement. I now return you to your regularly scheduled Firefox tips, tutorials and more – already in progress.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

The extension, NetVideoHunter, promises you a world of easy to download videos and music from any YouTube-like video sharing web site. With it, you can download media from places such as YouTube, MySpace, Google Video, Metacafe, Dailymotion and more.

One more nice feature that comes with this add-on is that before you download any video or music, you can play it in a built-in media player. It has both fullscreen and video smoothing capabilities too, to make your viewing experience just that much better.

Here is a video tutorial on how to get the most out of NetVideoHunter:

Now, truth be told – there are a lot of extensions out there that promise to make content downloading easy and painless, however many fail in a number of ways. NetVideoHunter however, has yet to disappoint. If you have your own favorite media downloader for Firefox, feel free to share!

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

I couldn’t be more blunt with the headline, and it pretty much tells the entire story here. Pixlr, a great online photo editor has now got an extension that will work with Firefox. With it, you have access to import and edit any picture you find into the Pixlr web site.

So who really needs Pixlr? It is a great alternative for us normal people out there who may not need the entire Photoshop suite of tools, just a simple and easy to use editor. Having it online and with easy access via Firefox makes it an even handier tool for the web developers out there to have access to. The only thing you need to have to make it work is Flash.

One more nice feature about the service is it is super quick. Just playing around with the editor on its own, it loaded up in under two seconds easily. To pick up the Firefox add-on for Pixlr, go check out the Firefox Add-on site. To learn more about the Pixlr editor, be sure to visit pixlr.com.

Now I know some people don’t like my cross promotional ways, but if you enjoyed the Firefox Facts eBook I have another release of mine you might also like to check out. Just finished up putting together the first (of hopefully many more) web hosting eBooks for you to enjoy. The Best of the Web Hosting Show Guides is a collection of some of the most popular guides I have posted and talked about here on the Web Hosting Show podcast.

Unlike other eBook deals, you get an extra perk with this setup. You can download both the digital eBook version, or head over the the official page for it and pick up all five chapters as audio downloads too. I wanted to give to you the best of both worlds. The topics covered in the eBook cover all aspects of the web hosting world:

Moving from Web Host to Web Host

Getting going with your own Ecommerce Store Online

How to Find a Job in the Web Hosting Industry

Best Methods and Tips for Setting up a New Blog

The Ever Popular Handy Guide to Domain Names

Download the PDF and let me know what you think. Also as far as distribution goes, please feel free to share the link to download it to anybody and everybody you know. This is a project of mine I have been working on getting together for some time now and I want everybody to know it is free of charge.

To tune in to the Web Hosting Show, be sure to check out WebHostingShow.com, subscribe to the RSS feed or add us to your iTunes podcast subscriptions.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

There really are not that many resources for Firefox themes out there. I figured by now there would be more, but a search here and a search there only show a select few. Here are some of the best resources (excluding Mozilla’s because everybody knows about that one) for finding new Firefox themes I have stumbled upon.

Firefox Themes at Learn Firefox – Run by the CyberNet News crew it is one of the few unique resources out there. Browse by screenshot and find your favorite.

Customize.org – Firefox Themes – Customize.org has a nice navigational system, but not as many themes as I expected to see them have. Hopefully it will grow more over time, because with more selection it might become a regular stop for me. Just need more selection, don’t think that is asking too much.

DeviantArt’s Firefox Themes – One of my old favorite sites on the web didn’t let me down. There are tons of themes on DeviantArt, and I bet some of them you have not even seen before. Browse through them thumbnail by thumbnail. Yet another good resource to bookmark.

Have anymore? Drop in a comment and share with the group.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
