I have shown you before, the awesome Stylish user style Gmail Redesigned before.  The version two of this awe inspiring graphical facelift just adds to the greatness that was already there.

There are three additional scripts you can add to Firefox though that promise to make it even more customized to suit your needs.

Remember before you get started with any of these, you will need to pick up the Stylish add-on for Firefox.  To check out more Stylish tweaks and tips, also be sure to check the Firefox Facts archives.

Turn Google a Little Blue, Just for YOU!

Feeling a little blue?  Google can too, thanks to this user style!

Google is a Little Blue?

The Google Web Search - dark blue redesign (vC) user style adds a ‘bit of blue to the otherwise white and bland Google background.  To use this style, you will need to install the Stylish extension for Firefox.  Also as the designer points out on the page,  this style only works for google.com. To make it work for other countries, use a plain text editor to search for “google.com” and replace all occurrences with “google.co.uk” or whatever you use.

Google Calendar Notifier

google-calendar-notifierNeed a quick reminder as to what you need to do today?  Now there are several ways of making Google Calendar more accessible to you via Firefox, but not too many extensions.  the Google Calendar Notifier has been updated to Firefox 3 though to handle that problem for you.

Living in your status bar, the extension will pop up with your daily to do list.  It provides you with robust notifications and display of your Google Calendars for today, as well as showing any upcoming all day events for tomorrow.

google-calendar-notifier-2 On the positive side, this add-on for Firefox looks like it would make the perfect companion to the browser (if your a Google Calendar user).  On the bad side, if you visit the official web site for it the author says he’s not supporting it anymore.

Maybe he could hand it off to somebody interested in keeping it up?

Pick it up while you can, the Google Calendar Notifier promises to keep you up to date when it comes to keeping track of your schedule.

Google Notebook Add-on (without the add-on)

Like the idea of the Google Notebook add-on but you don’t want to be bothered with installing yet another extension?  Google has released a useful bookmarklet for people using browsers who can’t take advantage of the browser extension.

The secret here is that this bookmarklet also works for handy dandy Firefox.

All you have to do is visit the Google Notebook Bookmarklet web site, and drag the “Note This” to your bookmark toolbar.  Your done!  Now clicking that link will bring up a pop-up window asking you to “Please confirm that you want to add a note from this page.”.  Hit “yes” to do so, or “cancel” to go right to your notes.

Google Browser Sync = Back from the Dead

retun-of-gbs

Told you last week about Google’s plans to kill off the semi-popular Google Browser Sync extension.  According to Ars Technica, while they were tossing the dirt in the hole - somebody decided to do this:

Google is distributing the Browser Sync source code under the BSD license and is making it available through a Subversion source control repository on the Google Code website.

Good news for those of us who really liked this add-on.  The reason for its popularity is that it didn’t just sync up your bookmarks.  It also would transfer your passwords, history and cookies.

Personally, I am looking forward to giving Weave a shot (Mozilla’s version of the same service) due to the fact that Mozilla would know how to do it best.  Right now from what I have seen, it looks like it is still kind of buggy.

Not much is up on the Google Code page for BrowserSync but will be worth keeping an eye on in the next few weeks and months ahead.
