Internote makes adding sticky note reminders to Firefox a fairly easy process. Need to note something about a website? Create a Internote and the next time you visit that website, the sticky note will return. The add-on is also highly customizable and has tons of features. It might be the most feature rich sticky note add-on I have seen for the Firefox browser.

So what exactly does Internote bring to the table? With it you can move, resize, recolor, minimize, import, export, print or delete your saved notes and you can do this to one or all of your notes you have created at once. I would say the biggest feature would be the ability to minimize the notes to get them out of the way when you don’t need them and to bring them back when you are done looking at the content under the notes.

Another great thing about Internote is it is written with your security in mind. Here is a little more about that from the developer of the add-on:

Many such extensions claim to be secure but insert your notes into the webpage to display them. This means that if the webpage is looking, it can potentially capture your notes and transmit them off your computer. Internote displays your notes in a layer over the top of the webpage, so it’ll never know they’re there, and you’ll never know the difference. Ask the authors of other extensions whether their extension is secure or playing fast and loose with your privacy.

Instead of getting that sticky residue from Post-It notes messing up your screen, give Internote a try. Version 3 brings all kinds of new features such as minimized notes, the ability to specify the set of pages on which a note appears, an improved manager, better robustness and extendibility, and much more! You can download Internote from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

We are all looking for ways to get more done in the browser visually, and at times I would like to look at two tabs at the same time. Looking for a way to tile my tabs, I found a great add-on that does the job really well. The Tile Tabs add-on for Firefox does exactly what you think it would – it tiles your tabs in the browser.

Now, dividing up your tabs within 24 new frames and trying to check them all out would be a ‘bit crazy. However, I could see this add-on being helpful with viewing two or three pages at once.

Here is a little more about the add-on from the developers:

Tile Tabs allows an unlimited number of tabs to be tiled within the Firefox tabbed browser content area. The Firefox tabbed browser paradigm is fully maintained. The tiled layout is achieved by presentational changes rather than functional changes. All features (menu commands, url bar, search bar, tabs buttons) continue to operate as normal.

Excited about dividing up your Firefox browser? You can pick up the Tile Tabs add-on for Firefox on the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Once you have this add-on installed, you can save frequently entered text for later really easily. All it takes is two mouse clicks and your text is there. Just right-click in the textarea, select clippings and then select the name for the text you wish to paste in.

Some of the features also include:

Create clippings from selected text in a form field or Web page body (Firefox), or from selected text in an email or newsgroup message (Thunderbird)

Create clippings by dragging and dropping text into the Clippings icon on the status bar

Paste clippings into form fields (Firefox) or new email or newsgroup messages (Thunderbird) from the Clippings context menu. Individual clippings can be pasted as rich text if they contain HTML tags.

Assign shortcut keys to clippings for quicker pasting

Define placeholders inside a clipping that you will be prompted to fill in when you paste the clipping. Built-in placeholders for the date, time, clipping name, user agent, etc. are also available.

Organize your collection of clippings into folders using Clippings Manager

Import and export clippings to or from datasource files to share with other users

This is a great extension for Firefox if you find yourself typing the same things in over and over again. It can really help save a lot of time. You can pick Clippings up at the Firefox Add-ons web site.

I love any add-on or web site service that helps me organize my day to day life and duties. Being somewhat of an organizational nut, I do have to say one of my favorite Firefox add-ons out there is ReminderFox. This add-on for Firefox remembers things, so you don’t have to.

Once installed, you can setup ReminderFox to keep track of all your important dates and events. It could remember your birthdays, your anniversaries, when your bills are due and so much more. The possibilities are really endless. The best thing about it is it is running right from the browser, so there is no need to run a separate calendar application.

If you are looking for a good way to simplify your to do list, or just remember key dates – ReminderFox is your little personal organizer living in your browser.

You can download the ReminderFox add-on from the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

It seems like every time I see somebody’s browser, they have their links organized in a new way. Some people don’t even bother removing the default bookmark links that came with the browser. Others don’t use bookmarks at all. How do you roll? I figured I’d go over some of the techniques that are out there.

Basic Old School Organization

This one is probably the most widely use way of doing things. Keep all your bookmarks in folders, and keep those folders in your main bookmarks folder. Organize them by topic and then you can always find what your looking for – even though you have to go down a few levels to find it.

Favicon Pretty Picture Organization

I did this one for a while, and I liked it till I needed more bookmarks than my Bookmarks Toolbar could handle. Here you remove the titles and navigate from web site to web site by only using the favicon to go by. It does make things less cluttered – but hard to work with if you have too many links. An easy way of getting it done without much fuss would be to use the Smart Bookmarks Bar extension.

Everything in my Face Organization

Last but not least, you have the technique I am using right now – having almost all your bookmark folders sitting inside the Bookmarks Toolbar. Here I have drop down menus of each category and it doesn’t usually take more than two clicks to get anywhere. For less important bookmarks I still need to visit once in a blue moon – I’ll still put them in the bookmarks section outside of my toolbar links folder. Might sound busy, but it does work.

So, with those three new ways of organizing your bookmarks – is it time for you to clean house?

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
