The new Firefox logo has made its first appearance in the wild.  So, what do you think?  Do you love it, hate it, or not really see a difference?!  Check out Alex Faabord’s Mozilla blog if you want to check out and pick up all the various shapes and sizes. 

From what I have seen, so far I like the old icon a ‘bit better than what I have seen thus far.  I am more of a fan of the subtle design rather than that, “ahh look, it is on fire and it is all wacky looking” look and feel.   So why fix something that is not broken?  Alex explains:

In a marketplace that is focused on products that are newer, faster, lighter and shinier, design work is inherently perishable. Part of this is larger trends and fashion (for a period of time cars had fins), and part of this is simply ongoing visual change as an indication of overall progress.

The first two icons are being rendered by Anthony Piraino at the Iconfactory. The design is based on a conceptual sketch by Jon Hicks.  The third is being rendered by Stephen Horlander. If you want to keep up with the latest, be sure to keep an eye on Alex Faaborg’s blog as they are promising more concept art every 24 hours or so.

So, do you think we need a Firefox logo refresh, or are you happy with how it is right now?
