Then you need to pick up Compact Menu 2.

This simple add-on for Firefox will give you the old menu bar layout under a single button – so you can kind of mix the best of the old and the new when it comes to using Firefox 4. It adds a compact menu button to the navigation toolbar and then hides the big Firefox button.

You can fully customize the compact menu by right-clicking on the new toolbar button and selecting "Customize". From here you can drag the menu button to a new location inside of the Firefox navigation layout.

While there are other add-ons that will do the same job – I think Compact Menu 2 might do it the best. You can pick it up from the Firefox Add-ons website.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Well, it has been over a year since I messed around with the design of FirefoxFacts.com, so I thought we were long overdue for a new look here. I have tried to both simplify things and make the layout and design more user friendly too.

Some of the most noticeable changes include:

Bigger fonts/easier to read posts and pages

Better search, dropped Google Site Search

Simplified the navigation too, you can easily jump from categories to related "facts" to the next post in the archive all with one click

I really hope you enjoy the new look, and tell your friends to come visit too. Thanks for reading Firefox Facts, and there will be plenty more Firefox tips, themes, add-ons, tutorials and more in the future.

Looking to make Amazon a little better? Look no further, because I have found the perfect Greasemonkey user script for you to use.

Better Amazon promises to make your Amazon shopping even better in a number of ways. If you shop on Amazon a lot, this is a great companion to the browser.

This user script is a must-have for heavy duty Amazon.com shoppers. It will remove ads, cleans the overall layout of the web page, makes sections collapsible, adds the Amazon average rating to the title, and does a much better job at packing a lot of information onto the screen without the need to keep scrolling down.

Here are the current features, as detailed by the user script author:

All features of the (somewhat) popular script ‘Amazon Average Rating’;

Make sections collapsible to provide a cleaner environment;

User’s preferences of leaving some sections open is remembered;

Remove or minimizes ads such as ‘related services in the city’, ‘related external websites’;

Remove some fixed sections which are not very useful such as the Feedback section and the navigation footer;

Decrease the width of and add gray background to full reviews so they are both easier to read and easier on the eyes.

You can download and install the Better Amazon script for Greasemonkey out at the userscripts.org web site.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Gina is at it again with one of those “Better” Firefox extensions. This time around she tackles Google Calendar. As a big user of the other extensions she has released (plus I use Google Calendar too) I couldn’t pass up on the chance to try this one out.

The Better GCal extension for Firefox wraps some of the best Greasemonkey scripts into one easy to install extension. Editing the options of the extension allows you to also turn certain features on and off. Here are some of my favorite Greasemonkey scripts that have been included:

Google Calendar Air Skin

Collapse the Header and Sidebar

Colorize Weekends

Force Secure Connections (via https)

Plus a lot more tweaks and edits you can do.

If you use Google Calendar (or you think you might if a few things were changed around) then I would suggest giving this extension a shot.

                                                                                Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
Personally I find myself in the first camp – most of the time. That is why I was happy to see this new Hide Menubar extension roll my way.

Now with a name like that, I bet you can’t guess what it does. If you said, “downloads kewl wallpaper” I’m afraid you have not won. This extension allows for you to easily hide the menu bar inside of Firefox. This gives you more room to browse the Web. You can always bring it back though, just by hitting the ALT key to show it temporarily.

Need a quick and almost painless way of getting rid of those pointless “go” and “search” icons in the Firefox 2 interface? While doing a little customization on my own install, I ran across this tutorial via the Firefox Extension Guru’s Blog.

With the new default theme for Firefox 2 there is not a ’simple’ way to remove the ‘Go’ Button from the navigation toolbar. I never used the go button since I simply press enter after I type in address. This will make your address box a little bigger as well. There a couple ways you can remove the Go Button either via about:config or modifying your userChrome.css file.

By default, Firefox’s toolbar layout is a little bulky. Time to take it to the gym and get it turned into a sleek mean browsing machine!

Everyone loves Firefox, it’s the browser of browsers. I need not explain why, one would think the reasons for switching were obvious. However, the default interface for it is rather, lets say, bulky. I’m a minimalistic person; I like everything on my computer to be organized and simple. My desktop consists of three icons, my music is located in one folder. In fact, you could say my whole hard drive is like a carefully sorted filing cabinet. It’s not OCD, I hope, I just like it that way.
