New Add-ons Manager for Firefox?

Making up for the fact that they had to drop Places for right now, it looks like all is not lost. Via CyberNetNews.com I read about a new “Add-ons Manager” that seems to be merging both the theme manager and the extension manager into one spot. Hey, the more simple you can make it, the better.

I wouldn’t mind seeing them put in a search engine manager there as well. Themes, extensions, and search engine plugins are the three major things folks add or delete from Firefox, so why not join them there in one window?

See the pictures of it over at CyberNetNews.com!

A Preview of Firefox 2

Firefox 2 is coming closer and looking better every day. The “spell-as-you-type functionality for text fields” looks pretty interesting. It might keep me from typing words into the Google search box every time I’m not sure how to spell something. The “ability to manage the search plugins” is my other favorite new feature to look forward to. Right now there isn’t a pretty interface over this, and I really think there should be one.

Firefox 2 Screenshots - New Features

The folks over at C|Net have uploaded some new images for us all to drool over, as far as the new features go in Firefox 2 Alpha 1. There are about six features previewed here, so give it a look. One feature I am really happy to see is the “close tab” button on each tab you have open.
