If you have a hidden hate for your keyboard’s companion, you know that mouse sitting over there, mocking you with its two buttons and scroll wheel of humility then you might want to look into NumberFox. This addon for Firefox will allow you to navigate links, selections, search boxes and more by typing in the corresponding number.

When NumberFox is turned on, the page is filled with numbers corresponding with the links on the page. To choose a link, all you have to do is enter the number into the NumberFox box (in the picture, seen right above the Google logo) and your off to surfing through cyber space. You can also use the up and down keys to cycle through the available links for another way to navigate through your clicking choices.

If the mouse is on your bad list, or you need an alternative this extension is a good way to go.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Now we all knew that you can open a new tab by hitting the Ctrl key plus “T”, but did you know you can change the tab you are looking at by hitting the Ctrl key plus one of the number keys?

For an example, lets say you have four tabs open. If you click Ctrl and “1″ you will go to the first tab. If you hit Ctrl and “2″ you will go to the second tab. As you can guess – this goes on and on till you go all the way to 9.

Now switching tabs back and forth is what I do a lot during the day in my day job (working sales support). Hopefully this newly found tip will be helpful for you as well.

Firefox has reached a new milestone: 300,000,000 downloads since its initial release back in November 9, 2004. That’s 825 days ago, which makes a cute rate of : 363,636.3636..downloads/day.

As usual, it must be noted that it says nothing about the actual number of users (except they are a pretty big bunch) as a single user may have downloaded it several times for his/her different computers or a single download may have been installed in several computers. So relax, smile (or curse) and move on.

Congrats to one and all, I hope the next 300 million come even quicker!

I just don’t see why people find it necessary to mention every single time Firefox’s market share goes up or down a point. Found this little ‘bit of news via Download Squad.

While Firefox’s market share reached 15 percent in the US last month, eWeek is reporting that it’s hit 13.71 percent world wide. However, the browser’s spread has been hindered by recently publicized security flaws and lingering incompatibility issues, especially in the corporate sector.

No mater how many folks out there might say that Firefox isn’t the browser for them for this reason or that reason, 200 million speaks volumes. It shows there has been and will be an audience for such a browser.

Here is what Asa Dotzler had to say via the SpreadFirefox.com Web site:

Let me start off by saying that YOU ALL ARE AMAZING! Today the Firefox download counter crossed the 200 million mark. We know that this number doesn’t represent actual users because this number includes both Firefox 1.0 and Firefox 1.5 (soon Firefox 2,) because not every one completes every download, and because not every download results in a new Firefox user.
