So who really needs Pixlr?  It is a great alternative for us normal people out there who may not need the entire Photoshop suite of tools, just a simple and easy to use editor.  Having it online and with easy access via Firefox makes it an even handier tool for the web developers out there to have access to.  The only thing you need to have to make it work is Flash. 

One more nice feature about the service is it is super quick.  Just playing around with the editor on its own, it loaded up in under two seconds easily.  To pick up the Firefox add-on for Pixlr, go check out the Firefox Add-on site.  To learn more about the Pixlr editor, be sure to visit pixlr.com.

The thing that makes OutWit Images different than other image browsers, is it allows user to save images right to the hard drive and browse from there.  From within Firefox, you can collect images from various web sources  with just a simple click of the button. 

The sleek design (as you can see above) is also worth pointing out.  It can also be personalized by selecting different background colors and views for the thumbnails themselves.  Here is a little more about this extension from the developers:

The images can be dragged and dropped into the collection basket, “the catch,” from which they can be saved directly onto the computer, displayed in a slideshow, or shared with others. It also offers a variety of other options including filters for viewing and saving the images, as well as, visible source information.

OutWit Images is designed for the collection of images, plain and simple.  You can pickup this add-on for Firefox on the Firefox Add-ons site or the official OutWit site too.

Confused yet? Picnik is a really cool web site that allows you to edit your photos Online. Now when you mix that with the awesomeness that is Firefox – you have in your hands one heck of a nice tool.

Add a menu options and a toolbar icon to make importing images into Picnik easier. This extension adds a menu option when you right click on images to make it easy to pull the image into Picnik for editing. Firefox 2.0 users also menu options and a toolbar icon to take screen shots and import them into Picnik.

The thing that brings the magic together is the Picnik extension for Firefox. Might not be the time to uninstall Photoshop just yet – but give it some time and you might re-think that idea.

Overall I’d say this is a neat idea for a Firefox addon, but not sure if it is useful just yet. They do have a big selection of neat photos – but i would really like to add my own – or have it pick up on my Flickr account (or insert your favorite photo host here.) Do you think this extension shows promise too?

The new theme directory on the Web site gives you screenshots of each theme and a link to get to the Firefox Addons page about that said theme. This takes a really simple idea and just makes it that much better. Browse through the selections yourself and be sure to let them know you appreciate the time it took to get this all put together!

Our page is set-up so that users can come and ‘fill in’ the Firefox logo by claiming a pixel. They can use their spot on the logo to express themselves and to shoutout to the world about anyone who has got their back.

Join in on the fun! I’d like nothing more than to bring these people a few more pixels in. Also see if you can find me (I’m the guy with the coconut and hammer) – and include as the guy that “told you” about Firefox. Just type in Mitch.

That is so 2001! There has to be a more efficient way of getting this simple job done.

There is and it’s name is AutoSlideshow. The AutoSlideshow extension for Firefox allows you to view graphics on a Web page in a little “photo player”. Here is what the author of the extension has to say about it.

AutoSlideshow allows you to view slideshows of images of web pages or images linked to from web pages. This is mainly useful for viewing images of a page with no possibility for image browsing.

Right now it has special support for: wikipedia, google, yahoo, facebook.com and studivz.net. As time goes by I could see a lot of areas where this simple extension could expand and get even better.
