Redesign of Firefox Facts

Well, it has been over a year since I messed around with the design of FirefoxFacts.com, so I thought we were long overdue for a new look here.  I have tried to both simplify things and make the layout and design more user friendly too.

Some of the most noticeable changes include:

  • Bigger fonts/easier to read posts and pages
  • Better search, dropped Google Site Search
  • Simplified the navigation too, you can easily jump from categories to related "facts" to the next post in the archive all with one click

I really hope you enjoy the new look, and tell your friends to come visit too.  Thanks for reading Firefox Facts, and there will be plenty more Firefox tips, themes, add-ons, tutorials and more in the future.

Add-ons Manager Redesign – Coming Soon!

Firefox's New Add-on Manager

Coming to Firefox, you will soon start to see your add-ons manager inside the Firefox browsing window, rather than a popup window.

Personally, I really hope they plan to do this with all the extra popup windows Firefox has, because I want everything to be integrated within the browsing experience, and it has always seemed to me that a tab would be a much better place to take care of editing add-ons, options and more.

So, do you like the planned change?  You can read more about it on Boriss’ Blog.

Firefox Add-ons Site Gets a Makeover

New Firefox Add-on Love!

Today is the day that Firefox’s new add-on site has gone live.  You can check it all out at addons.mozilla.org.  The new look and feel does look nice, and there is a lot to love here.  For example, on the main page you have  rotating list of suggestions based on categories like web development, family, social, travel and more.  Each category on the left-side menu also has a number count – so you can see exactly how many extensions there are.  My favorite new feature might be the listing of recommended, popular, just added and updated extensions all right on the front page.  No more hunting around link to link to find them all.

So, what is your general feeling for the new Firefox add-ons site?  Love it or hate it?  I’ll be sure to be diving into more features from this new site later on – but till then I want to hear what you think about it.

New FirefoxFacts.com Layout and Design

In case you missed it, here is the new FirefoxFacts.com layout and design I have been working on for the past few weeks.  Let me know what you think!

It is live now, if you haven’t checked it out yet.  I have added a lot of nice features, fixed a lot of design flaws and hopefully, all the big changes have been done.  Will probably be doing a few more small tweaks here and there – but overall I am pretty happy with it.

Gmail Redesigned (plus some more neat features)

I have shown you before, the awesome Stylish user style Gmail Redesigned before.  The version two of this awe inspiring graphical facelift just adds to the greatness that was already there.

There are three additional scripts you can add to Firefox though that promise to make it even more customized to suit your needs.

Remember before you get started with any of these, you will need to pick up the Stylish add-on for Firefox.  To check out more Stylish tweaks and tips, also be sure to check the Firefox Facts archives.

Update – You can now get this great style as an add-on on the Firefox Add-ons web site too.
