Firesizer – Resize Firefox to Your Liking

FiresizerResizing your browser window. This isn’t just something that web designers need – I think we all move our windows around the screen from time to time. Sometimes, just to let you in on a little secret… I do it just for the fun of it.

Firesizer is an extension for Firefox that will let you pre-set a series of browser sizes so you can quickly jump from one to the other. Here is a little more information about the extention:

Provides a menu and status bar to resize the window dimensions to a specific size. Unlike other similar extensions, this one sets the size of the *entire window*, not just the HTML area.

Nobody is going to claim this extension is reinventing the wheel, but it is a small extension that does what it sets out to do. As long as you can get that much done, your alright in my book.

Auto-Expanding Tabs

Don’t you hate it when you have so many tabs open you can’t see what exactly is open? Well with the FishEyeTab extension for Firefox, you can kiss those days goodbye. This extension auto-expands your tabs when you hover over one with your mouse.

FishEyeTabs

An alternative to scrolling when there are many open tabs, and they become too small to see. User can zoom tab labels by moving the mouse cursor over them. Fisheye zoom is activated only when tabs occupy the whole width of the window. Close button moved to right FF 1.0 – style.

This cool animation makes it quick and easy to see which tab is which. You also don’t sacrifice much tab toolbar space either.

Split Your Browser Window

Split Up Your BrowserFor the ten people out there that miss iframe designs, I have an extension that will remind you of the good ol’ times. Split Panel allows you to split your browser window up into tiny bite size.. umm, smaller windows?

Open panel to left, bottom or right (left, middle or right click) with current URL from Split on context menu (right click on page) of the tab’s page. Allows you to view see two pages simultaneously for comparison or copying info from one to the other. Can be resized by dragging the bar between the main browser and new panel.

I am sure there has to be a reason for this out there somewhere. I just can’t happen to think of any right now.. come on, where is the reason?!

Stop Browser Resizing In Firefox

I just hate it when a Web site tries to resize my browser window.

There’s a simple little fix that prevent webpages from resizing your Firefox browser that I put in every time. There’s nothing I hate more than a website that resizes my whole browser to the size of a 40×40 ad, forcing me to expand it back to my regular 1024×768 size.

Stop Automatic Image Resizing

Alright, so it is not the biggest Firefox annoyance, I will give you that. Sometimes though I don’t want to have my photos resized to fit inside of the browser window. Call me crazy, but I think it distorts the picture in most cases and I still have to end up resizing it to full view to fully enjoy it. Well here is how you can get rid of that auto resizing “feature” in Firefox.

First thing you need to do is type in about:config inside of your address bar. Once you have made it there, you need to look for:

browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing

If you can’t find it, just enter that into your filter box and you should be good to go. Now here is where the magic happens! Double click that entry in about:config to set it to false. Now every time you see a picture on the Web you will be enjoying it in full view. No more resizing for you!

Tidy Browser Button

I am a total neat freak. I like to keep things clean and in their place. My office area here is spotless. My desktop only have the icons on it I need. So how can I make Firefox a little neater? That is where the Tidy Browser Button comes into play. It allows you to change the size of Firefox to meet the needs of the standard Web site layouts out there today.
