The Year in Firefox

This has been a pretty good year for your favorite browser, hasn’t it? The Firefox Extension Guru has summed the entire year up for the folks at Mozilla in one great post that I think you should all check out.

Relive some of the memories you’ve had and think ahead at what 2007 has yet to bring us. Were you as excited about you Christmas presents as you were Firefox 2 coming out? Yeah – I was too.

Here we are at the end of 2006! I can’t believe this year is nearly over and thought wouldn’t it be neat to take a look at all the changes to Firefox over the past year? A lot has happened (more then I first realized) with a total of 11 official releases.

Firefox 2 is a Dud?

Just to show that I am not a total Firefox fanboy (oh who am I kidding, you know I am) here is another opinion about the newest release from the fine folks over at Mozilla.

Firefox 2.0 is free, but it’s a woefully minor improvement over Firefox 1.5 that suffers from various incompatibility problems, especially with themes and other add-ons. I wouldn’t recommend this new version, to be honest. I’ll be sticking with Firefox 1.5 at least for now. I recommend you do the same, or switch to the surprisingly solid IE 7.0

Personally, I think it sounds like Paul might have been eating paint chips while writing this, but it is another opinion. Sure, Firefox 2 might not make me breakfast – but I still love it like it did.

Firefox 2 Alpha 3 Review

The folks over at Mozilla Links have a nice in-depth look at the new Firefox 2 Alpha 3 release. Instead of touching on all the things already covered before, they only focus on things that are new to this alpha 3 release. It is very interesting to read through if you are not brave enough to install the newest release yourself, just yet.
