The add-on looks to enhance the way you interact with content from your favorite website services. Check out this quick video tour to learn more:

For people with plenty of screen real estate, this really is a great tool to add to the browser. Your searches, social link sharing and much more are just pulled up in a popup window that comes from the right of the screen. You might think this would get in the way of things – but it also does a good job at hiding itself when you don’t need it front and center.

KwiClick can display the results of your searches from the Firefox search box, which makes finding the right site easier than ever. This is an option that can be turned on/off whenever you like.

Want to give it a shot? Go download KwiClick for Firefox over at the Firefox add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
If so – you might want to check out the new LikeJournal add-on for Firefox. This add-on (plus website service) will create a searchable database of all the links you like via the Facebook like button.

LikeJournal’s main job is to help you keep track of both your own Facebook likes and those of your friends’ too. It saves them all as social bookmarks, so yu can easily search and browse them in a single click.

The way this works is simple. You only need to log into LikeJournal website. After that, your likes from Facebook will be instantly pulled in and indexed so you can browse and search them through the extension or LikeJournal website. From then on – each new link you like will be added to your link list on LikeJournal.com. Even if you are without a like button on the website you are browsing, you can use the power of the LikeJournal add-on to share and archive any link, any time.

If you like (pun intended) both Firefox and Facebook, then you should give LikeJournal a shot. You can download this add-on from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Want to like things on Facebook, without actually being on Facebook? If Facebook is your second home, and you love to share what you find around the Web with your friends then you need the Facebook Like add-on for Firefox.

With this plugin installed, you can share web pages you like with your friends and see how many people like that specific website that you are on.

Now, personally I spend my time on a number of different social websites and share things I like in a number of different ways. However, if you find that you spend most of your time on Facebook – sharing things with friends, family members and strangers you find cute, this might be a good extension to pick up to save you some time or find out who out there likes what.

You can pick up the Facebook Like add-on for Firefox from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Needing an extension-less fix for converting long links into short ones? Now, we all know there are dozens of Firefox add-ons that could do this for you, but do you really need another extension to your browser? Maybe not.

I got an e-mail from a Firefox Facts reader who asked…

"What way do you suggest is best for link shortening? I don’t want to install another add-on if possible. Thanks!"

I’ll share with you the way I handle all my link shortening needs.

I would suggest you go sign up for bit.ly. They are one of the best link shortening services out there today. They have been around a while, so you know they are not going away (and breaking all your short links) anytime soon. They also give you tons of statistics for all the links you shorten too.

The bookmarklet is the best part about the service. As you can see in my screenshot above, it opens up a pane on top of the page you are looking at with the text all ready to copy, paste and share. You can even use it to tweet your short link via Twitter too – if needed.

To grab the bookmarklet, all you need to do is register for bit.ly, and then drag the bookmarklet to your links toolbar in Firefox.

So there is your quick and easy extension-less fix for an everyday browsing problem. While I still fully love all the Firefox add-ons and extensions out there, sometimes there is a better or easier way to do things without installing one more addition to the browser.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Once upon a time there was a tiny Twiter tool called, TinyTweet.

This littlest add-on of them all spread joy a harmony throughout the Internets by allowing all those in Twitter land to send tweets to their friend, families and that guy who keeps spamming affiliate deals. It didn’t do this by any normal means. Oh no. It did it’s work by simply highlighting text on any page.

Ok, that is all the fairy tail talk I can handle. TinyTweet is another one of those, small extensions that simply gets the job done. All you have to do is highlight any text inside of any web page, and a “Tweet This” button will magically appear. Click it, and an automatically generated bit.ly link is created and the text you highlighted is ready to be shared to all your Twitter followers.

You can pick up the TinyTweet add-on from the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Do you remember Jetpack?

It is the Mozilla Labs project that makes the add-on building process easier, mixing elements of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Mozilla has released an awesome Jetpack Gallery, which serves as a community for Jetpack developers and add-on users.

Much like the Firefox Add-ons site, you have featured add-ons for Jetpack, ratings, and user reviews. It does a good job at giving you a summary of what each add-on is all about and looks like.

Here are some of my favorite Jetpack add-ons I have found:

Thumbtabs – This jetpack displays your tabs and theirs thumbnails in Jetpack’s Slidebar.

Jetstatus – Jetstatus is a Twitter client for Jetpack. It polls the service for new updates and displays popup notifications for every entry in the friends timeline.

GTranslatifier – To translate a web page into your language, just click on the Google Translate icon in your status bar.

Image Editor – Let’s you use the Pixlr image editor to edit any image you find on the web. Simply right-click an image, select “Edit Image”, and you’re editing away.

Here are a couple of other places to get Jetpacks:

Jetpacks in the Wild – Mozilla Wiki

Recent Jetpacks – UserScripts.org

I am happy to see that Jetpack development is alive and well. It really brings new and interesting ways to change your own Firefox installation or interact with your favorite web sites. The Jetpack Gallery is well worth diving into.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Facebook seems to quickly be outgrowing the other social networks by leaps and bounds. It is hard to find a friend that hasn’t switched over to it from the other social networks like MySpace and the like. So with that said, why not grab a toolbar that will help you get a little more out of your Facebook usage and help you stay connected with your friends even better?

Once you have installed the Facebook Toolbar add-on, you can easily do the following:

Search Facebook from Anywhere – The Search Box allows you to easily search Facebook no matter where you are. Select a friend from the drop-down to go directly to their profile, or hit “enter” to see the search results.

Get Notified – Icons on the toolbar tell you how many new pokes, friend requests, and messages you have. A pop-up will notify you when your friends update their statuses, write a new note or interact with you on Facebook.

Connect with Friends – Click the icon to open the Facebook friends sidebar. You can sort your friends by name or status and easily interact with them and their profiles.

Share Content – The share button lets you share the page that you are currently browsing by sending it to friends or posting it to your profile.

Upload Photos – The upload photos button lets you find photos on your computer, caption and tag them, and upload them to Facebook.

The Facebook Toolbar extension simply put, makes it much easier to integrate all the fun of Facebook into your favorite browser. You can pick up the add-on via the Firefox Add-ons web site.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

On Friday, Mozilla Firefox was downloaded for the one billionth time since the release of 1.0 in 2004. To help celebrate the news, Mozilla has released a new web site called One Billion + You.

From there, you can easily post to Twitter how much one billion really is, such as:

A bowl big enough to fit one billion goldfish would be as big as a stadium.

One billion stacked coins would reach nearly 1,000 miles high.

One billion centimeters is approximately the distance from Chicago to Tokyo.

One billion seconds is roughly 31.7 years.

One billion kilograms is equal to the weight of 250,000 elephants.

One billion credit cards weigh as much as fifty-two blue whales.

If that wasn’t enough, you can also make up your own to share on Twitter or Facebook. Also don’t forget to decorate your Twitter icon with a Twibbon too.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
