Mozilla’s social sharing button has gotten a few new improvements. F1, from Mozilla Labs is proposed to be a future default feature in a later version of Firefox, so think we should learn as much about it as we can.

The big update this time around is that the add-on now supports LinkedIn – so you can share things with your friends there. The interface has gotten a ‘bit of a facelift too. Rather than expanding it’s interface down from the top of the browser, it shows a pop-up window that is more in-line with the Firefox 4 interface.

You also get a thumbnail picture preview when you share things on your Facebook account too. I wish they would include the ability to post on Facebook fan pages – however, the new ability to post to your Facebook groups is a nice addition.

F1 is an add-on you have to try out if you are using Firefox 4 and have any sort of Facebook or Twitter-like social existence. It might be about the best add-on I’ve seen when it comes to sharing links you have run across with family, friends and fans.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Along with the new Firefox Add-ons web site, the people at Mozilla also treated us to a new feature called collections. What are they? Well, they are a group of related add-ons that are assembled for easy sharing.

Here are some of my favorites I have found thus far:

Web Developer’s Toolbox
12 add-ons to help you speed up the development process when it comes to web development and managing the ins and outs of your own web site.

Downloadsquad Pack
Soup up your browser with selections from the Downloadsquad.com staff and some of our readers’ favorite add-ons. They’ll help make your browsing safer, more hassle free, and more productive!

Traveler’s Pack
When the travel bug bites, these add-ons make it easy to plan, book and document your trip — without getting lost along the way.

That is just a small sample of what is out there, and who know – I might be working on a Firefox Facts Pack in the near future. Creating your own pack is easy to do. All you have to do is login to the addons.mozilla.org web site, and then visit the create a collection page. From there, you give it a name, description, decide if you want your pack to be public or private, then start naming off your add-ons that will be included.

What have been your favorite add-on collections, so far?

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Time to have us a good old extension cage match. In one corner you have the Hawaiian punch of the link sharing world – Mahalo Share. In the other, weighing in with way too many link sharing resources is Shareaholic. Here is what each brings to the table…

Mahalo Share – Share and recommend Web pages across many different services; recommend a link once and have it automatically posted to any of Twitter, del.icio.us, MySpace, Ma.gnolia, Jaiku, your Tumblr blog, Facebook, Pownce, StumbleUpon, Mahalo, Faves, or Google Bookmarks.

Shareaholic – Found something awesome online and can’t wait to pass it on? Tired of copying and pasting endless URLs? Shareaholic allows you to share, bookmark, and e-mail web pages quickly via a wide array of web 2.0 social websites without cluttering up your browser!

For those looking for a smaller addon, that is simple and get the job done, I would recommend Mahalo Share. Fore the people wanting an add-on that does a little ‘bit of everything in one spot, then for you we have Shareaholic. Both have their advantages so I am afraid I would have to call this one a draw.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
