While the name does not roll off the tongue, it is the most downloaded Firefox theme at the moment via the Firefox Add-ons website.

Bloomind FT DeepDark 2 really transforms the look of Firefox 4+ for Windows users. It has been tested to work though on both Windows and Linux with little to no issues. The entire theme is very sleek looking. I hope to see more Firefox themes like it in the future that pay attention to detail and get every inch of the browser themed over like Bloomind FT DeepDark 2 does.

When push comes to shove this is a clean theme with cool colors. You can pick Bloomind FT DeepDark 2 up from the Firefox Add-ons website. If you’d like to see it in a different color, you might also browse through some of the other variations that have been released.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

For all the things that the most recent versions of Firefox have done for simplifying the interface, why do we still need to have a separate box for searches? If you are like me and are needing a way to simplify the browser even more – try out Instantfox.

Instantfox does much more than just eliminate the need for the search box. You can also get results instantly as you type and loads up content on the fly. There is some memorization needed to remember the quick search key-letters to type on to the address bar to do your searches.

g » for Google Search
i » for Google Images
m » for Google Maps
y » for Youtube
t » for Twitter
w » for Wikipedia
a » for Amazon
e » for eBay
c » for Calculator

Now, while some might see this as a drawback – I actually see this as a useful feature. This means I can use Instantfox when I see fit and it doesn’t totally replace the way Firefox handles the address bar. In everyday use, the Firefox address bar is the same as it always was. However, if you type in g then a space and then type out a keyword – you are searching Google instantly. I like that.

Want to learn more about this amazing little add-on for Firefox? Head on over to Instantfox.net.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Who bleached my Firefox? If you are going for a minimal and clean interface, you can do no better than the Simple White theme for Firefox. This extremely all white theme of Firefox might sound a like a ‘bit of an oddity at first – but once you use it for a while, you will really appreciate the simplicity of it all.

This theme brings a whole new meaning to the phrase, "having a clean interface". Several more features have been added to this theme, other than just turning the theme white:

Width of tabs has been reduced

Unselected tabs are semitransparent (when Aero is turned on)

Better compatibility with Windows XP

If you want a way to de-clutter your desktop, then going with this minimal, modern and simple theme might be the best way to start.

The Simple White theme has been tested to work on Windows 7, XP and Ubuntu 10.10. You can download the Simple White theme for Firefox from the Firefox Add-ons website or the official Simple White website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

Here is a little more about the theme from the designer:

This skin makes Firefox 4 look like Firefox 1.5. Remember the cute skin it was… simply amazing. With this skin, the interface, the tabs, and the download manager were reskinned to look like Firefox 1.5. Useless stuff cluttering the address bar, like the Bookmarks star, the RSS icon and the Go Button have been removed in order to simplify the interface. The ugly green security bar has also been removed.

Personally I think some of the spacing and padding seems to be a ‘bit off, so I can’t use this as my everyday Firefox theme, however I do wish them the best of luck with keeping the old Firefox 1.5 theme alive.

Want to give it a shot? Just head on over to the Firefox Add-ons website to download it or visit realfox.net.

Firefox 4 really brought a new look and feel to the browser that was refreshing for me. However, some people still like the overall look and feel of the Google Chrome browser more. Well, now you can have the best of both worlds with the FXChrome theme for Firefox.

FXChrome is a nice mix of both Firefox 4′s theme and Google Chrome’s theme mashed together. While many people would argue that the themes are pretty similar already – and I might have to agree there – I do like the flat buttons from Chrome that FXChrome brings to the table.

Looking for more options and tools when it comes to viewing pictures from within Firefox? The very obviously named Image Tools add-on for Firefox will give you a few more basic controls when it comes to viewing images from within the browser.

This add-on adds a toolbar across the bottom of the screen when you are viewing stand alone images inside of Firefox. In the toolbar, you can fit the image to the window size you are viewing, zoom into the image, zoom away from the image, save the image or rotate the image around.

The author has also mentioned on his Firefox profile for the add-on that if you have any ideas for the add-on and how to make it better, let him know. I always like to see Firefox add-on authors that are open to ideas from the public.

You can pick up the Image Tools add-on for Firefox from the Firefox Add-ons website.

The world of Firefox 3.6 themes is really slim pickings these days. Well, there still are a lot of great themes, however most of them I have already covered here more than a few times. However, I am happy to say I was surprised to find this suggestion in my inbox this morning. Bloomind FT Graphite really transforms the way Firefox looks for Windows users.

This has to be one of the best looking themes for Firefox, hands down. The interface is very sleek and Apple-like, however it still has a unique feeling about it that makes you say, "Hey, maybe I’m not using Safari!".

The only complaints I have seen are a few issues with some buttons not looking just right, but other than that I would give Bloomind FT Graphite two thumbs up and five stars all around. With Firefox 4 right around the corner, why not decorate Firefox 3.6 one more time with this exceptionally awesome theme.

You can pick up Bloomind FT Graphite at the Firefox Add-ons website.

Like the default Firefox theme, but find it to be a little too colorful for its own good? Then you might want to check out the Firefox theme – MonoChrome. It brings Firefox back to basics with everything turned black and white and grey all over.

MonoChrome, simply put – is a monochrome version of the default Windows theme for Firefox 3.6, otherwise known as the "Strata" theme. To the theme creator’s credit, he has done a fantastic job at re-themeing this creative take on the default Firefox theme – and it shows.

The goal here is to create a lightweight, aesthetically pleasing theme – and MonoChrome does it.

You can pick up MonoChrome from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

With all the buzz surrounding the Firefox 4 redesign making us excited for the next best thing, I have to remind you that there are still some great themes for our current navigation and toolbar layout too. Strata Reloaded gives the basic Windows Firefox theme a fresh overhaul, and makes it look even nicer than before.

Once you have the theme installed, you will notice that you have new icons, new effects when you hover over those icons and an overall better polish to the basic Firefox theme we all know and use a lot. The theme is fully compatible with Linux, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP too. You can also install the theme on Firefox 3.0, 3.5, 3.6 and 4.0! I have to give that virtual pat on the back for any theme or add-on author that has their stuff already updated for the next great version of Firefox.

The above picture is for the Firefox 3.6 version of the theme – and bellow, we have the Firefox 4 version:

So as you can see, this is a theme you can plan on using for a long time.

Want to download Strata Reloaded and see how you like it? You can pick up this fantastic theme from the Firefox Add-ons website or lean more about it from the official Strata Reloaded website too.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!

In a day where we have fantastic website designs, terrific layouts and tons of stuff to check out on the web – we sometimes forget that some people have more readability problems than most. The Readability add-on for Firefox looks to change that. It strips all the fluff from the webpage you are looking at – and delivers pure content.

This extension to the Firefox browsing experience makes reading webpages much more simple. Once installed, all you need to do to activate it is click the "R" icon in the Firefox status toolbar. The add-on will also auto-scroll for you too – to make reading any article a hands free experience. All you need to do is press Ctrl + Shift + A to start the auto-scrolling experience.

Here are a few more tips to help you get more out of the auto-scrolling feature:

0-9 : Set scroll speed, 0 being stand-still and 9 being skim-speed
– : Decrease speed
= : Increase speed
shift + – : Decrease speed quickly
shift + = : Increase speed quickly
ESC or q : Quit

For people out there who want this nifty tool, but do not want to install another add-on into Firefox, you are in luck. They do have a bookmarklet option available too at Arc90.com. All you need to do is drag their bookmarklet to your bookmarks toolbar – and you can make any webpage article more readable.

For those who want the Firefox add-on experience, you can pick up Readability from the Firefox Add-ons website.

Facebook Fan Page Come join the fun on the Firefox Facts Facebook Fan Page!
