3 Ugliest Firefox Themes

Warning - Ugly Themes Ahead

From time to time, I like to share with you some of the ugliest popular themes I can find for Firefox.  These three themes though might be the cream of the crop when it comes to just plain bad themes.  Then again, I will let you be the judge.  Is beauty in the eye of the beholder – or are these themes just unusable?

Lolifox Theme Just Makes Me Angry at the World

lolifox-theme Now I am not one to usually fight the Firefox community, but this just kind of take the cake for being totally absurd.  How in the heck does the Lolifox by ChaosRing Theme have these kind of download numbers?

  • 5,982 weekly downloads
  • 6,327 total downloads

Just look at it!  All they did was take the CrystalFox Modern theme and put a creepy picture of a fox-child-thing on it and make the background bright green.

This ugly theme does bring up one good point, which is – what is Mozilla’s policy when somebody openly steals another person’s theme or design?

Now sure, there might be some other not-so-great looking themes out there however they have their audiences, so you have to respect that.  On the other hand though, the Lolifox theme is the worst theme I have seen in a very long time.

3 Ugliest (yet Popular) Firefox Themes

Why are so many of the Firefox themes out there on the popular list so darn ugly? Here are just a few examples of some of the “most popular” themes out there. So ugly you might want to slap your mama and go back to Microsoft. Now that is ugly.

Ugly Red ThemeBloodFire

What is red, black and kinda hard to use? This Firefox theme! Now I do not meant to hurt feelings here but I kinda like to be able to have a peaceful and calm Firefox experience. This one makes me feel like I need to sit in a dark empty cellar and write this by candle light.

Ugly Old FactoryOldFactory Black

With all the rustic switches and knobs, this one has the “hey this looks cool” part of the theme down – but when it is all said and done, it is really hard to use. The old-fashioned theme for a modern browser….. I always thought that was the title for all those Internet Explorer themes out there.

Creepy Red Cats!Red Cats (blue flavor)

I hate cats – they freak me out. Didn’t you ever watch or read Stephen King’s Cat’s Eye story. They just give me the creeps… My deepest apologies to the cat people out there I just can’t give this theme any love. The fact that it is cute isn’t winning any points with me either.

This all leaves me with this thought, maybe I should do a countdown or review before the end of the year of the real best looking themes that are out there. Then again, I guess best and popular don’t always fit together all that well.

MySpace Hacks

Now when it comes to MySpace, general navigation is usually thrown out the window. Well, that is before you see the huge “I want to be a gangster” images and bouncing hearts all over the place.

If you want to gain some control back when it comes to viewing MySpace profiles (and you have Greasemonkey) I would suggest picking up the MySpaceHax user script.

This allows you to have a neat menu on the right over every profile that gives you quick access to: Add, Add to Group, Block, Blog, View Comments, View Pictures and View Groups. This is the Greasemonkey script that every MySpace addict needs to pick up to make MySpace kind of usable.

Aluminium Kai 2 Theme for Firefox

Aluminium Kai 2Now the whole Aluminium Kai theme was never one that I really liked much. Personally I would take a simple and clean layout over one like this any day. There has to be people out there that like it though, because I keep seeing it mentioned all over the place.

Now I guess it is not all that bad. If you are going to force me to say something nice about it, I like the color green? Yeah, that is all I got.
