Firefox 3.7 First Screenshots Maybe?

With Firefox 3.5 out the door, the Mozilla guys are hard at work brainstorming around what Firefox 3.7 might look like.  To help with the brainstorming, they have released a few mock-up screenshots of what Firefox 3.7 might look like.  There has been nothing finalized thus far, but it is still fun to check out and see what they have in mind for the next big design refresh of our favorite browser.

  1. Embracing Glass: Toolbar and Tabs using Glass. Buttons translucent and slightly glossy to meld with the toolbar. Raised 3D lookachieve tactile "feel".
  2. Page Button: Connect the Page button to the left side of the tab area. Directly connected to the Page.
  3. Tools/Bookmark Bar: Connecting the Tools button to the side of the Window to emphasize the fact that it is used for customizing and changing the UI. Adding a button next to that to toggle the Bookmarks Bar which is turned off by default.

What do you think thus far?  I kind of like the idea of removing the menu bar, as long as all the important aspects are still easily reached (maybe via “tools”).  However, not sure if I want everything to be as see-through as it is in the example.  Here are two more screenshots:

Vixpa Theme Has Vista Style is XP Feeling

The Vixpa theme for Firefox is an attempt to refresh the Windows XP-style icons with the more polished Windows Vista feeling.  Your not getting the same old icons though.  All icons have been redrawn from the ground up, with a few original icons to replace those of XP’s.

Camifox Theme for Firefox Rocks!

As soon as I say I like this theme, somebody is going to pop out of the wood work and say how awful my choice in themes really is.  To keep those people at bay I will only say… oh forget them.  Camifox is a unique new look for Firefox, yet doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel.

Here is a little more about the theme from the designer:

Firefox 3, in living color. Camifox replaces Firefox’s monolithic toolbar buttons on Mac OS X (and the icons on Windows and Linux) with the bright, colorful icons from the Mozilla Camino browser, and it also makes the tab bar easier to read with higher contrast.

How does it look?  Camifox, if I dare to say is a great looking theme in my opinion.  Here is how it looks on Mac, Vista, XP and Linux:

Firefox 3: Use the XP Theme on Vista or Vise Versa

Now you have the choice to switch between these without having to change your computer’s operating system.  Two new theme solutions for either XP or Vista have surfaced (they are experimental right now) on Firefox’s add-ons site.

So if you use XP but you like Vista’s theme more – use it.  If you use Vista and like XP’s theme more, you have a more colorful default theme solution.

Microsoft Inspired Firefox Themes

Hard to think that there are more than a few Microsoft inspired themes out there for the Firefox browser. Now I have no real hate towards everybody’s favorite monopoly – but it is always amusing to poke fun at the biggest dog in the yard.

Want to go back to the Office?

Office Firefox ThemeNow I don’t know too many people who say, “I’m such a big fan of Office, I wished all my apps looked like this!” but love it or hate it, the Office look makes for a pretty nice Firefox theme. If your looking for that traditional Microsoft look – but with a little class and style the Office theme for Firefox might be the download you have been looking for.

Stick it up your aero, Vista!

Vista-aeroOur next Firefox theme inspired by the Microsoft machine looks like it fell out of Windows Vista. If your a big fan of the way the new Internet Explorer 7 looks then the Vista-areo theme might be up your alley. Sleek blue style with that Microsoft glow.

Crappy, yet classic Microsoft style…

Looks FamiliarNow this is the style that you know and love. No wait, does anybody really love the classic and familiar look of IE6? No – it couldn’t be.. could it? Well if you do fall in that camp then the Looks Familiar theme for Firefox is a download you might want to do in private. Close the blinds though and make sure nobody sees you using it.
